It's something I've been pondering and I haven't been able to find an answer. So, I have a 5.1 set up in my living room and that's as far as it's going to go. I don't have any leeway for installing height speakers and my front towers wouldn't accommodate upward firing speakers either. And I'm OK with this
When I'm viewing Atmos content from my Apple TV through my Denon receiver, the Denon panel displays ATMOS and it sounds fine although not noticeable different from 5.1 content. So, it got me wondering what the receiver does when there's no height output. Is it dropping information or is it d ..read more

So I just purchased an Onkyo TX-NR7100 because I found it on a really good deal but I don’t have any speakers to pair with it. I had been using a Sonos Beam and (2) Play:1 speakers thinking I would eventually add a sub and further surround speakers but I don’t think there’s a good way to use them in conjunction with a receiver to build out surround sound for my (VERY slowly) growing home theater space. I would ultimately like to get a projector but I’ll continue with my 65” Vizio for now. I don’t have a specific budget for speakers at this point (honestly, I don’t have a lot to spend right no ..read more

Hey all. I currently have my living room set up as my home theater. I have a Sony STR-DN1080 set up for a 5.1.2 system with Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2s front and back, C6.2 center, A4.2 Atmos modules, and a SUB3010 subwoofer. I am very happy with everything except the subwoofer, and would like to upgrade it.
The room is about 5,000 cu. ft. and open to the dining room and kitchen, so I know I “need” a pretty big sub for the space. However, I don’t listen anywhere close to reference levels, so I am okay with some compromise. I would like to go with dual subwoofers, but with this being the living room ..read more

Ever used powered 18” subs for your home theater? I have four of these but can only fit two in my living room.

So, right now I have a optical audio cable running from the tv to a optical/coaxial box then plugged into receiver (Sony DAV-FX10)(as I broke the little door on the optical port). Every now and than (more now then than), the audio cuts out. Only way to get it back is to restart my AppleTV. I am able to get sound without issue if I play through my tv. What could the issue be?

Followed y’all’s recommendations for the 5.1 setup. So, next upgrade advice:

Hi all! We are hoping to add 4 2 way full range stereo speakers to our current receiver. Pictures show the current set up to our 2 indoor speakers. Is there a way to do this and having them on a separate channel?
