Hi y'all - I'm new to REW (experienced with ARTA and Omnimic) and trying to use a UMIK-1 USB mic to capture dual-channel measurements for import into VituixCAD. It's not clear to me whether I need a hardware connection for the timing channel, or it's a software setting inside REW. I am getting good single channel measurements, but not the timing. Appreciate any assistance ..read more

Hi all! I have a set of Pioneer sp-bs41-lr speakers and an old JVC stereo receiver. At the moment I'm just using an audio cable connected to the motherboard and I think the sound is pretty good. I'm wondering if I should take additional steps that could significantly improve the sound quality, such as purchasing a sound card or DAC. Thanks for advices ..read more

What to do with Coax braided shielding.

When stripping RG6, what am I supposed to do with the braided shielding? Some websites say to fold back the braided wire back over the outter plastic sheath before you install a compression connector? It this necessary and of so, why? And with quad shielded cable, do you fold back the outter braid or inner braid? I have been just stripping the RG6 down to the dielectric insulator and then installing a compression connector. I have not noticed any issues with that ..read more

We recently purchased a house with a large area in the basement that serves as both a home theater and a family room. The house was built in 1973 and the space is quite dated, featuring wood paneled walls and a drop ceiling with fluorescent fixtures. I've seen good ideas presented on this site and thought I would throw a few ideas out there in case anyone has suggestions before we get started. Here are photos of how it looks now... multi-purpose room renovation ..read more

March 24, 2024 Hello!!! It’s been awhile since I last posted, but I’m having the same cutting out problem, now driving me crazy!!! Like I’ve said, my TV is hanging on the wall, I hid the wiring such as power cord, and TOS cable. I ran an Cat6 Ethernet cable. Directly from router, wired under the Coach (mobile home) and 75’ to each of my three smart TV’s in each room….from router in on end of the house. This is ETHERNET, not Antenna. I should be getting 100% signal, but when I watch regular... Yamaha RX-V675, 6.1 CH, audio intermittently drops off ..read more

I am currently building out my home theater room. Obviously this is my first time. I’m running all of the speaker sire behind the drywall, and I want to pull wire to a few locations for the subwoofer. My issue is that I’m not sure what I should be installing in order to connect my sub to my new amp. My subwoofer is a Paradigm PS Series PS-1000 V.3 and I’m planning to use a Sony ES STR-AZ5000ES for the amp. Can you please... Subwoofer Wiring ..read more
