I'll take your advice and while I am at it, ask if anyone has or knows where I can find a distributor clamp. First of all how do you lose one and secondly, how are they different from the Buick/Olds versions and why are they so rare?(:P ..read more

In reply to # 2037033 by DrT Horrible news IMO. Private equity ruins everything they touch, profits above all else. Coupled with the loss of TRF, we’re screwed.
My suspicion is that low-volume parts will be eliminated to increase return on assets and return on capital employed. It happened to some Spitfire parts when Moss took over Vicky Brit. This new operation will probably be even-more vicious in dropping slow-moving SKU's. In the short term, prices of some slow moving items may be raised. When they don't sell well, they'll disappear ..read more

Day 2 of Wedge owners;))
If you haven't already got one or been advised to get one then make a purchase of a TR7 Repair Operation Manual or Gregory manual for your new project. The best thing you'll purchase before heading down rabbit holes chasing issues with old English cars
In reply to # 2038356 by BritmobileFan Thanks Dave, I will hook up the battery again tomorrow and try the high and low beams to see it the rest of the lights are lit. Already this is more fun than most of my other projects. Day 2 and still listing what iis missing or not working right. Looks like I need to get the charg ..read more

Hi David,
I had the three prong Klaxon unit and replaced it with three prong "Indicator/Flasher Unit 3 Pin Lucas Terminals - GFU103" from Rimmer Bros and it fit and worked perfectly.
Yes the Rimmer Bros catalog notes it is for the MG Midget 1500. I spoke with Chris at Rimmer Bros before I ordered the unit on March 15th and he stated ..."The MG 1500 is roughly the same as the Triumph Spitfire."
During my research in the Rimmer catalog I noted that certain parts were not always available for the 78 Spitfire 1500.
Coincidentally my Spitfire linkage "broke" in 2013. I had it towed to a very se ..read more

When the gearbox is cool the OD functions fine. But for some reason the gearbox is getting very hot once traffic is flowing and at a speed where OD can be engaged, if it’s for a minute or two the switch engages/disengages fine.
Run in OD for >5 min or so and when it’s time to slow down the switch does nothing and I’m stuck on OD
Going down the gears to exit the freeway. Hit 2nd and the wheels lock up for a second then it’s ok, but changing gears from 2-3 and the OD is acting like a slipping clutch until it grabs again.
It’s odd behavior and I thought it was because I’d not topped off the ..read more
