Today I encountered the old issue with AW not unlocking my Mac. Oh no, not again! I thought but I went through the process as usual. System Settings > Touch ID & Password > Use Apple watch to unlock your Applications and your Mac with the expected result. "Your Watch must be signed into your Apple ID to use this feature, you can sign in using the AW app on your iPhone" Now I know this doesnt work but checking my AW app I see my watch is sighed into my Apple ID as usual. This is just soooo annoying. Despite this being a recognised issue over some time and Apples claim that the current update to macOS 11.1 improves Apple watch connectivity this still happens for no apparent reason. The only stategy that seems to work is unpairing and pairing the watch with an iPhone all over again. A process which takes over an hour and involves re entering all your Wallet credit card details again, a tedious and sometimes unsuccessful process. It's about time Apple solved... It seems like every year or more frequently, there are multiple online reports that the latest iOS/iPadOS/AWOS upgrade or update has reduced the battery life of everything from MacBooks to Apple Watches, sometimes drastically. In the case of watchOS 10 there was a claim that a watch previously lasting 24+ hrs on one charge was reduced to 4 hrs. I finally convinced the wife to get an Apple Watch SE like mine to replace her dying FitBit. We purchased it using my Apple ID/account because I had credits from an iPhone trade-in. Although the Watch was purchased with my Apple account/ID it has never been paired with my phone. It has always been paired only with her phone and account/ID.
