Hi, I went through menopause about 8 years ago at 52 but my hair loss started 2 years before. Every doctor I went to just gave me a blank stare and no help. I’ve had blood tests and even a scalp biopsy but no definitive answer or treatment. I am at a point now I have to do strategic combovers to cover bald spots and at the end of my rope. I don’t go out unless I have to. I use the fibers to cover what combovers can’t. I’ve never had alot of hair. Been hairy but not where it counts. My hormone levels come back all “normal” I had nodules on my thyroid, biopsied and normal. I don’t know what to d ..read more

Hello, I am writing here because of pain under the right rib cage, which is lasting for more than 11 months and have made me completely desperate:/ I've tried everything and I have no more ideas how to help myself, neither does doctors anymore, apparently. I'm looking for any kind of information or ideas, what could it be, how to relieve the pain, how to treat the problem, how to get rid of it… The pain appeared last year at the end of November when I was recovering from Covid pneumonia, during which I coughed very hard and often, because of this I had severe pain in the front side between s ..read more

I am 49 years old, about 3 years ago I started missing periods here and there. The longest being 3 months. Periods usually last 7 days, but a year ago i had one for almost 2 weeks then they went back to being pretty regular until now. Right now I'm on day 14 of bleeding. The first 3 or 4 days was pretty light, mostly spotty but now I'm on About 10 days of heavy bleeding. When it happened before the doctor said it was pretty normal. How common is this and is it really normal for perimenopause.? It's really starting to worry me ..read more

Old age, bone loss & bad breath

I'm 63 and I'm told I have 30% bone loss (X ray - which also eliminated other issues - I have a sideways widsom tooth inside the gum not thought to play a role here). I maintain excellent oral hygeine but recently notice a bad smell. I found if I squeeze the gum behind my back-most lower molar there is an oozing and the smell. I am told this is inevitable with ageing - bone loss creates a gap into which food can go where it rots. They say there is little to be done. Sometimes they extract the tooth and the gum heals and closes the pocket and that's a permanent fix but there'a also a risk of p ..read more

The ARASENS Trial: Another Route to Benefit for High Volume Met Patients at Start

Adding Androgen Receptor Blocker Darolutamide to Chemo (Docetaxel) and ADT Dr. Evan Yu continued the presentation after his discussion of the PEACE-1 trial (see earlier post today) by turning to the ARASENS trial, again looking at men who had distant metastases at the time of first being diagnosed - the group of men that up to very recently had only about a 30% survival rate at five years, in sharp contrast to the vast majority of the rest of us, where survival, compared to peers without prostate cancer, is in the mid-90 percentages at the fifteen year point, with many of us outliving the dis ..read more

The PEACE-1 Trial: 1.6 Year Survival Benefit for Triple Combo - High Vol Met Patients

by IADT3since2000

The PEACE-1 clinical trial early results were discussed by medical oncologist Evan Yu, MD, during the second day of the Prostate Cancer Research Institute annual conference last month (about minutes 18-20). Dr. Yu focused on results through five years of follow-up for these patients who had a high volume of metastatic cancer when initially diagnosed with prostate cancer. He explained that the results for the effectiveness of radiation, the main purpose of the trial, were not mature yet, but that the data for use of adding chemo (docetaxel) to abiraterone acetate (plus prednisone) and ADT were ..read more

58M, 6', 200. In February 2021 I started experiencing a full body itch that mainly hits my hands, arms, legs, head and any orifice. It's persistent for the most part and only Gabapentin dulls it when its bad, though I have had reprieves from it on and off. No rash. Primary has no idea. Immunologist tried everything. No idea. I have CKD, but stage 3A and stable all during this time and two top Nephros say it's not the kidney's. In March I started getting a very bad back pain, left of the spine an inch or two and in vertical line from the base of the shoulder blade down to mid-back. Primary a ..read more
