No, not the Marx brother but the 1997 movie Gummo by Harmony Korine. Surely it has been discussed here? In any case, I haven't seen it in ages but have been thinking 'bout it recently. Came across this interesting review/take on the film:

I just saw this rare gem on YT. Robert Vaughn played the smooth talking sleazy "baby daddy". Jeanne Cooper of Y&R fame, aka "Mrs. Chancellor", portrayed the understanding director of an unwed mother's home. The shocking ending was that the unwed mother pleaded with the adoptive parents to return her kid. She got him back. A rare plot point in that era ..read more

Nearly a decade after it was released, I finally saw it today. I really felt bad for Einor's 's wife, but glad they stayed friends. He should had listened when she told him to stall the 2nd surgery. Both actors did a great job. Alicia thrives in period movies. I am not too familiar with Eddie's work. But I have heard good things about him. I know he attended college with Prince William ..read more

When. Ellis kept her marriage to Tony a secret from her family and friends in Ireland; did anyone sense she might be tempted to cheat? I am glad she didn't. Did her sister Rose die from a heart condition. The movie was decent, but a little disjointed in my opinion. I am really going to miss posting on here ..read more

The movie starred Bette Davis. She played a British colonial wife in Malaysia. Her husband owned a rubber plantation. She murdered her former lover in cold blood when he ended their affair. The victim was married to an Eurasian women. A pretty good film.
One rare aspect of the film noir, was showing the husband breaking down crying when he discovered the wife's infidelity. Very rare in that era, usually the husband became cold and bitter, revengeful, often shown drinking, or just left ..read more

I just gave my last final exam, and this was the last question on that exam:
A film historian is designing a display which will contain pictures of famous movie stars. She cannot fit all the images below in her display, so she decides to pick two actors and two actresses from this collection. In how many ways can she make her selections?
For extra credit, I told my students I would give them one point for each actor and actress they could identify. Here are some of the results.
One student got Joan Crawford correct.
Two students got Ronald Reagan (maybe ..read more

Have you ever noticed how in "Vertigo" in the green lit scene where Scottie views the newly revamped Madeleine, and peroxided Judy walks slowly out of the bathroom toward him...that the bed light shade, suspended right below the flowered picture behind her, is there...then not there?
It's kind of spooky...since the scene is eerie anyway but it appears and disappears.
Also in the scene at Scottie's apartment, what is with the bit where the curtains keep hanging up the actors as they walk near the window? It almost looks like someone is behind them. Gee, is Elster hanging out there ..read more
