Could be a cyst. May pop on its own. They need crunchier foods. 90% of their diet are snails. https://www.pufferfishenthusiastsworldw ... susasellus Statistics: Posted by Pufferpunk — Wed Apr 24, 2024 1:12 am ..read more

What test kits are you using? You should be showing some nitrate. If they were just breeding, it could be bites from their mate. Statistics: Posted by Pufferpunk — Wed Apr 24, 2024 1:08 am ..read more

Hi All, Lurker here for a while - I recently set up a tank for my South American Puffers and need help identifying what's going on with one of them. It's in constant motion so it's hard to get a great picture but it has a swollen "head" slightly towards its side with a small white protrusion coming out of an indent in the swelling. This came on pretty quickly as all the fish in the tank were looking great yesterday. However, I did start treating for parasites yesterday with API General Cure (before I read the post a few down on why API GC isn't great). For more context, almost all of them g ..read more

My Fahaka has grown into a full on buddy relationship with a Bala Shark. They teamwork feeding time, rest together, etc. Of course your mileage may vary, but I have found that my Fahaka has grown quite tolerant of other fish. Including a small group of Siamese algea eaters and some rainbows. EDIT: One piece to add is both of these fish came into the same fish store in the a washed out tide container and were rescued together. So I don't know that I would buy a bala shark and toss it in just to see if a fahaka would tolerate it. thumbnail_image1.jpg thumbnail_image4.jpg Statistics: Posted by a ..read more

Long time update here because I got busy but I wanted to update a 1 year out. The rescue was completely successful and my new friend has been living with me in their tank for the past year without incident. He even tolerates some tank mates including a pleasant and fun to watch relationship with a bala shark. They will work together to feed, the shark will knock food into the open or flip over mussels to make them easier for the puffer to open and then they enjoy the feast together. They often sleep together the fahaka buried in the sand and the bala shark just hovering above at night. I incl ..read more

Hi. Yesterday while i was standing in the kitchen, 3 meters away from the hairy tank, i noticed some funny movements, and i went closer to see this happen... I imported him about 4 years ago, so i guess he will be somewhere between 5 and 6 years now. He only did it once before when moving to another aquarium. Total length 5 inch. Diameter 4 inch.
