What you are met with at www.thebeatles.com these days. Word started to spread a few days ago, that the Let It Be documentary film from 1970, directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg, was about to finally become available again. Yesterday, I was told that the film will debut on Disney+ in May, and will be released on physical media later this year. I wrote about it over on my Norwegian Wood blog, and made a mock-up of a blu-ray cover, just as an illustration. Over on Facebook, I published the same picture on the Daily Beatle Facebook page, with no words, as I figured news would be out in an officia ..read more

All Things Must Pass. It will soon be over for the LOVE performance at The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas. It was originally George Harrison who took the initiative for the acrobatic Beatles show, but he did not live long enough to see it become a reality in 2006. The final show will take place on Ringo’s birthday, 7 July 2024. Probably the last known photo of George and Paul together. This is supposed to be backstage at a Cirque du Soleil show in Las Vegas in December 2000. The music in the performance are original compositions and recordings of The Beatles, which Giles Martin and his father G ..read more

Ringo’s audio diaries of 1966. A series of compact cassette tapes with recordings Ringo made during the Beatles’ 1966 tour is going under the hammer at Omega Auctions. Audio cassettes was a novelty at the time, and Ringo probably enjoyed the small format tapes, even though the portable cassette player and recorder may have been heavy to carry around on tour. The Beatles’ press officer Tony Barrow had also acquired a portable Philips cassette player, with which, at Paul’s request, he recorded the historic final Beatles concert in Candlestick Park in San Francisco. It was in August 1963 that ..read more

In the new issue, we are delighted to inform that one of our own articles has been put to print, the one about Beatles autopen autographs. The bulk of the magazine is the interview with Maureen O’Grady, teen reporter from Boyfriend magazine, chronicling the rise of pop magazines in the British press in 1963, aided by O’Grady’s memories, diary and other memorabilia from her archives, including photos (some unseen) and clippings. Sadly, the autor of the piece, A ..read more

Some years ago, we started noticing that there was a Twitter account all about the Beatles and tea. Then a fanzine appeared, looking like The Beatles Monthly Book, called The Teatles Book. We never saw a copy for ourselves but people started posting photos of the book, then Pattie Boyd posted a picture of herself with a copy of issue 11. Next you know, the publisher was mentioned by the official John Lennon Twitter account. We wanted to know more about the man behind, and sent him a few questions, which he kindly replied to. Turns out, he’s a Welshman called Huw Spink and he lives in Liverpo ..read more
