Another GTO question, intake manifold

I started in n engine assembly of the 1967 GTO last night. Boy, I knew that kit wasn't the best, but boy oh boy. So, I got out the 66 GTO kit, and it looks like I will be using everything except for the interior and body from the 66 kit. The 66 engine has a tri-power intake setup, and I need a single 4 barrel setup. Would a SBC manifold work on the Pontiac engine? I have the manifold from the Revell 65 Chevy pickup that I could use if that works. I checked the Revell Pontiac parts pack engine, and it has the tri-power setup also ..read more

Has Anyone Tried This Mash Up

Has anyone tried putting an AMT 32 Ford Phantom Vickie chassis under a fully fendered Revell 32 Ford Tudor.  If they have are there any major stumbling blocks On the surface a quick mate up looks like it may work. The AMT chassis does not have the side reveals that the Revell chassis has. The AMT is a "modern" chassis with a more up to date motor than the Revell kit too.  Pix shows the AMT chassis (grey) sandwiched between the Revell guards and body.    ..read more

Scratch building quarter panels for the Revell 1981 Carmaro Z28

I bought this kit because I owned a 1:1 1980 Z28 and was excited to build my former car. After reading the review on this site and opening the box and looking at the parts I am very disappointed. I've now decided to use this as a platform to learn new things. I remember seeing an article in a car magazine about a custom 1980 Z28 with a whale tail and extended quarter panels. These modifications have always stuck with me, but I've been unable to find any photos of this car online.  What I remember is that the quarter panels were "flat" around the doors, not blended back into the body and t ..read more

Peterbilt 359 'needle nose' conversion

I'm preparing to do a 'needle nose' conversion of the AMT Peterbilt 359, in order to create a 281 (the 'Duel' truck). With new parts required for the hood and radiator, I was pretty sure I would lose the aligment of cab, hood and grille. Therefore I built a jig that held these parts in place. The jig has three steps. Here's the jig with the kit's cab, hood and grille (taped together) placed on the jig Now my question: what width should the narrow grille have? Does anyone know that figure? I have three reference values: 1. in the 1984 FMS article, the author narrowed the grille bij 1/4", maki ..read more

1967 GTO wheels and covers

I am gathering the parts, finally, to build my dad's GTO. The car had steel wheels, but he can't remember what the wheel covers looked like. I found these two styles while searching the web. Unfortunately, we don't have any pictures of the actual car. Any ideas if these are available? I am using the, um, less than desirable 67 GTO kit as a base. Thanks ..read more

I found this jar of paint in my stash. I don’t recall buying it so I searched it on here and everyone seems to rave about it. But I’m not sure what folks use it for. What is the best use for this paint? In other words, what would you save it for if it was the only bottle you had. Thanks ..read more

This model has been a battle for quite some a while now. And now after fighting the foiling which is now complete (but not so great) I had a spot of black paint where you see the  primer showing. So  in my infinite wisdom I tried to get the black off rubbing with a damp cloth and thinner and as you can see, here's my result. I'll take any suggestions on what in the heck can I do as a relitively quick fix without redoing the whole roof again which means pulling off all the foil work. Grrrrr!!!!!     ..read more
