Hey there gents, hoping to enlist your expertise on a problem I currently have: I ordered a new oil screen for my project 1975 cb250 G5, after the old one was toast (completely clogged up after a catastrophic loss of oil pressure with the previous owner). The bike in question: This is the type I ordered (just the screen, part number 15422369000): This... 1975 CB250 G5 oil pickup old vs new type; Exchangable ..read more

I have a 67' 305 Super Hawk that needs a total restoration and a 67' 305 scrambler that is road ready and only needs a few cosmetic repairs. Has anyone used the headlight from a Street Hawk (has a Speedo and a tack) on a Scrambler ..read more

Hi, i am Hennie from South Africa. I own a CD200 Roadmaster from 1980 6 volt version and a 200 trike {single cylinder}

Both bikes are not running at present. I need rings and a top gasket for the Roadmaster and the big Red {1984 model} needs a new cam and cam bushes. The problem is that spares are hard to source for these old bikes in South Africa and the exchange rate {SA Rand and Dollar) is such that it will cost too much to import parts. My only hope is to eventually be able to buy parts from someone in South Africa. Very frustrating ..read more

SL350K2 Unexplained Cam Chain Damage

Hi all, currently restoring a 1972 SL350K2 and I am in the middle of an engine rebuild. When I acquired the bike, I was able to start it up and shift through all the gears without any problems. Despite this, the bike called for a full tear down to get it looking pretty again. With the engine out of the bike, I drained the oil and discovered the oil was silver with metallic flakes. About 7 small (1/4 of a dime sized) chunks also came out with the oil, 2-3 of them metal and the others... SL350K2 Unexplained Cam Chain Damage ..read more

1980 CM400T sorta resto log

New here because I bought a 1980 CM400T Bobber project off somebody on marketplace for $300. This is what I've discovered so far. -The bike had no carburetor, so I bought a Mikuni VM30 carb from SpeedMotoCo, running velocity stacks, it's stupid for obvious reasons but looks cool, might switch em out for regular filters at some point. Still have to adjust the idle screw because so far it doesn't idle at a very low rpm. -Found out the starter solenoid was bad, jumped the contacts and it... 1980 CM400T sorta resto log ..read more

Honda CB450K1 - New (to me) bike - checklist before taking it out

Hello all, I got this CB450K1 from 1969 which was delivered just a few days ago and I wanted to see what I needed to check before taking it for a spin. I am fairly familiar with older motorcycles but this is my first DOHC motor and I wonder how to check for oil pressure / oil flow. On my SOHC engines I always open a few of the valve tappet covers and with the engine running check for oil spraying out - confirming oil pressure and oil pump. On this DOHC I don't have teppet covers, I wonder... Honda CB450K1 - New (to me) bike - checklist before taking it out ..read more

New and looking for 1966 CA77 manual or schematics

Wanted to introduce myself since I plan on posting here throughout my repair of a 1966 CA77 that I picked up at a rural shop. Does anyone have a manual or schematic for this bike? Where could I purchase one? This is also my first bike, as a rider and fixer, but I have restored a car in the past so I'm generally familiar with the type of issues I'm seeing. Nothing major as far as I can tell, I drove it around a bit already. Mostly lights not coming on, small fuel leak due to a loose hose... New and looking for 1966 CA77 manual or schematics ..read more
