Chickpea and Clam Soup (Zuppa di Ceci e Vongole)
Our Edible Italy Blog
by Tina Ciccia

This week I finally came home after traveling for most of the summer. And as usual, my first craving was for the delectable “vongole” (clams) that are locally-caught in the Gulf of Naples, and celebrated all over the world. It was cold and raining outside, so I decided to warm up with “una bella zuppa di ceci e vongole” —a quick and easy preparation that pares chickpeas with the clams for a simply delightful soup, which is so wholesome and comforting that it hits-the-spot and satisfies my cravings every time. That morning I came upon this brand-new bakery in town that specialises in all sort ..read more

Our Edible Italy Blog

For the second year in a row, 10 Diego Vitagliano Pizzeria has been awarded by the prestigious “Top 50 Pizza 2022” one of the top pizzerias in all of Italy —and I’m not surprised. Nor do I believe it would be surprising to anyone familiar with the vibrant, ever-evolving pizza scene in Naples, where master pizza-maker Diego’s two pizzerias are located in the Bagnoli and Pozzuoli districts of the city. The pizza, and all the delicious else one tastes at Neapolitan Pizzerias, is that good in his establishments. There are many popular pizzerias in Naples, but in my opinion, not all serve up ..read more

Birrificio Sorrento | One of Italy’s Best Craft Breweries
Our Edible Italy Blog
by Tina Ciccia
2y ago
Birrificio Sorrento was founded by Giuseppe Schisano and Francesco Galano in 2009 —when they levelled up their tiny home-brewing operation to a state-of-the-art craft brewery and realised their dream. Ever since, they have been brewing up bold, flavorsome beers with local fruit in the mash, like IGP Sorrento lemons, oranges and walnuts, and various grapes—which gives these beers an authentic taste of their territory—the Sorrento Peninsula. During the years Giuseppe and Francesco’s hard work and passionate pursuits, inspired by the art-and-technology of brewing and its infinite possibi ..read more

Our Edible Italy Blog

Perched on the hills in Positano, Fattoria La Tagliata is one of the best farm to table dining experiences on the Amalfi Coast. The natural setting is spectacular, with panoramic views of the coastline and Tyrrhenian Sea —and beautifully terraced gardens, which span over three levels. It’s a little piece of paradise suspended between the sea and sky, where the owners, the Barba family —offer plenty of dining areas inside and out. Either before or after the meal, the terraced gardens are a must-explore for one to experience the abounding beauty of the family farm —and discover the ..read more

Founded by Francesco Gargiulo, Antico Francischiello opened its doors in Massa Lubrense back in 1909. Located near the Piazza Sant’Antonio, Ristorante Il Buco is considered one of the best fine dining destinations in Sorrento. Spaghetti alla Nerano is one of the most famous pasta dishes from our corner of Italy’s south; the Sorrento and Amalfi Coast. But specifically from the quaint coastal village of Nerano (hence the name) in the commune of Massa Lubrense, where locals and international travelers alike flock to experience its extraordinary creamy, cheesy, zucchini taste, while dining at water’s edge with breathtaking vistas of the Marina del Cantone.  Made with fried zucchini rounds, a mix of grated cheeses, ground pepper, and fresh aromatic basil leaves—a combination of simple ingredients that ce ..read more

Le Colline Lubrensi | Harvest to Award-Winning Olive Oil, Sorrento Coast
Our Edible Italy Blog
by Tina Ciccia

Autumn has always been my favourite season —the cool weather, warm hues of foliage, fresh, crisp air…and a long, cozy list of reasons more. But it’s been especially so since I have been living in Massa Lubrense, where the silvery-green rolling hills come to life as the olive harvest takes place and men, and still today entire families, are hard at work. The olive harvest typically begins in mid-September, with the laying down (and sewing up) of the nets beneath the trees, where the ripened olives will fall —and lasts until December, or even January, depending on weather conditions. Dur ..read more
