The Ravenna Mosaics in Emilia Romagna, in the north-east of Italy, are among the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Small wonder these unique early Christian monuments are all listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to visit four of the eight UNESCO sites, in Ravenna, with the Emilia-Romagna tourist board.
