What to do with my Sig 556R
Indiana Gun Owners » Long Guns

So I've been really fighting back and forth lately. I have a very nice condition gen2 3 bolt upper receiver Sig 556R with a really nice Shooting Site aftermarket 2-stage trigger and Troy battle guard monolithic quad rail front end. I love to shoot it but it's not been produced for domestic market for quite a long time now and the parts, if you can even find them, are mega expensive now. Also 7.62X39 is nearly the “bargain” it once was either. I'm trying to decide if I should post it for sale... Read more ..read more

I neglected to take more photos, but shot my new Rossi today I was expecting kick but man it does beat your shoulder up haha So I did have a first for me a failure of a primer on Magtech flat nose partial copper jacket .44 mag dropped the hammer on it a bunch of times it had to be a bad primer no problem with the rest of the ammo just that one. I have had bad primers on rimfire before but not center fire. After that I took the Rossi apart, again sorry for not... Read more ..read more

My counterfeit trench gun project

Found an old Stevens 520A at the Louisville gun show a few months ago. My son noticed the guy walking around with it and he only wanted $100 so I gladly gave him that. It had a long barrel with the adjustable choke and a cracked loose buttock with no butt plate. Very worn with a great old patina. I looked all over for a heatshield. There was one at the show for $800, so that was right out. Bid on a few on EBay and Gunbroker but they were closing over $400. Finally one seller had several so... Read more ..read more

I am having some difficulty interpreting the code letters on the barrel of an old Remington Model 572 .22 Pump action rifle The code letters are CFW on the left side of the barrel near the receiver I believe the C stands for April and the F for the year of manufacture 1959 but cannot figure out the W. Anyone know what the W stands for? Would greatly appreciate any help in figuring out the W the rifle is in beautiful condition and was hardly used ..read more

Neat old rifle...

I start off by saying I will post pics soon. I am currently working on a Winchester 1873 in .22 short. They only made 19,000 over a 20 year span in .22 (1882 to 1902) and I would guess very few in the short configuration. It has the same size octagonal barrel as the larger calibers but with such a tiny bore it weighs as much as a truck axle. The mag tube is also as large but it has no loading gate and the inner mechanism has all the workings for the loading of the rifle. You pull the tube... Read more ..read more

I've got a Remington 541T that I was thinking about putting a suppressor on, but I"m not sure if I really want to have the barrel threaded. I purchased the rifle 40 years ago and maybe I should just leave it and look at buying a new .22 like a CZ already threaded. Any opinions on whether to leave the rifle untouched or go for it ..read more

1917 Enfield maybe unfired

I have had this 1917 Eddystone for about 50 years in grease and Interarms box just sitting there. I decided that I might want to shoot it, as my 70+ eyes don't do well with irons anymore and it has a nice peep. So I clean it up and it is 8-18 built with an Eddy 7-18 barrel, arsenal rebuilt due to Winchester stock and park finish. Looks like new and unfired with perfect bore and bolt face. So, what do you guys think, shoot it , or just grab something else and keep it unfired ..read more
