My Dad just gave me my Grandfathers Springfield Arms 12 gauge double barrel shotgun. Does anyone on here know anything about these guns? Its old and there is only a number on the bottom of the barrel and receiver that match, I see no other markings on this gun except Proof Tested 12 GA on the barrel. Any help would be welcome. I inherited from my Father In Law a model 10-A and have done some research. On the left side of the barrel where the date code is marked (per all references) is "ED3" there is a higher up mark CYL. "ED3" would mean october 1935 which makes no sense this model discontinued 1929. The serial number is U157152 which would place it in a material buy 128000-166600 supposedly to the US military.
