It comes in the box with the standard tube magazine with the hunting plug and choke already installed. It's exactly like the Turkey gun but without the camo plastic. I installed the GG&G 3rd extension, but can remove it in just a few minutes. What's the magazine capacity for 'Assault Weapon' in IL? It's the pistol grip and possibly threaded barrel... They have a decent shooting sports department. Guns, ammo, reloading supplies, safes... They also have a large 'online-only' gun department. Some really nice stuff in there. If your store is out, you can check stock at any store. Last time I needed powder, my store was out of stock, but I was able to drive over to Sisters to get what I needed. I never had access to Bi-Mart in ID, but I'm a big fan now. I have a nephew who moved to OR recently and I told him he only needs Winco and Bi-Mart ! And Winco and Bi-Mart are both employee owned businesses. We have Winco in CA, but the closest one t ..read more

A couple of weeks ago I was in my local Bi-Mart and found a Sauer SL5 on sale. $580. The clerk said it had been there awhile but I don't remember seeing it. Did some quick checking and found it is actually a Benelli M2 design and is manufactured by BREDA. I have a BREDA manufactured Mannlicher-Shoenauer, so that didn't scare me off. It's really well made! I've always wanted a HK/Benelli M2 or M3 so I think it's a score. The kit included a cylinder choke (the hunting choke was mounted and made it look really weird), tools and a Picatinny rail that I took off for now. Right away I ordered the ..read more

The ejecta, whether slug, shot, or anything else, is not being pulled away from the gun, but pushed by the high pressure gas, supported ultimately by the shooter. Some guy named Newton had a bit to say about it in one of those Laws of Motion rants. Any resistance to movement of the projectile within the gun would stress the the gun/projectile but would not be felt by the shooter, just as you don't feel chamber pressure. Pads can help, but increase length of pull, which would aid a short gun and a long arm, but make recoil worse for the opposite. Lighter loads can help, along with a heavier gu ..read more

Wow. It's been more than a year since I fired this beast. My spouse, when offered a chance to shoot it, IMMEDIATELY declined, based on my description of my own experience. I really think that, at some level, I need instruction on this thing AND a recoil pad to make it less awful to shoot. Regarding choke issues: I'm far from an expert on such things, but I kind of think that a choke would *reduce* the felt recoil rather than add to it, as the choke would add resistance to the projectile leaving the barrel, and in effect pull the gun away from my shoulder rather than push into my shoulder. I ..read more
