The control is now unavailable and discontinued although some used ones are around at £200. I just wonder if anyone can suggest a replacement or something which could be modified to use as the fan control ..read more

After a few 'oooh we don't normally service vans that old' (it's a 1994 Buccaneer Elan 14L) and 'well they take longer and we have to charge more' and me going 'yes, and? when can you come and do it?' A nice chap turned up in a van and proceeded to walk around going 'ooh haven't seen one this old in a while', and 'blimey, how old is that heater?' but within 10 minutes he was saying things like 'don't sell this van', 'don't upgrade to a newer van', 'if you ever want to sell it, I'll buy it from you' and the lovely 'they really don't build them like this any more, I'm amazed what good condition ..read more

Watching this TV series again, I have to wonder if these two actually use the MH and site facilities? Just seen him supposedly emptying a cassette toilet (pristine), and do they actually sleep the night in the outfit ?Lots of the programme doesn't ring true so I have my doubts ..read more

After months of poo that started at the CL we have just been to, we have had a week away.
Uneventful drive down. Turned up and only 1 other van on site, joy of joys was added as the best pitch in our opinion was free.
We spoke to the CL owner on the last day, turns out he had closed the booking system to new bookings as he wants to do some work to the CL so it just left th 2 existing bookings.
I hope we have convinced him to only have 3 pitches in a line and then 2 at right angles. 4 in a row would be a squeeze
Got pitched only to find one of the plastic covers for the powrt ..read more

A couple days ago I was installing fridge fans and I found an easy route for the wire but I was not completely happy that it would not rub so foolishly I drilled a hole . I did not expect any wiring to be behind where I was drilling but you’ve guessed it, there was
I checked all the electrical circuits and all working but I couldn’t relax until I could see the wire trunking
What a job , our Eriba Hymer is most certainly over engineered and to remove a hollow double panel at side of fridge and put back it took four hours moving this that and the other as all inter connected&nb ..read more

Hi Guys,
I'm just about to take delivery of my first van, and I'm instructing that a solar panel is installed to keep the leisure battery topped up. I want to use the van Off-Grid and I have the unfortunate affliction of a CPAP device for medical conditions related to sleep. It's a Resmed 10 for anyone who is familiar, running on a converted ResMed 9 DC-DC converter. I've used it on a Lead Acid Battery in a Tent before.
I have worked out the load from the documentation, and assuming 8 hours of sleep I think ~10Ah will be my basic minimum nightly load, if I turn all the fancy bits ..read more

After years of resistance finally bought a Cadac. Well aware this is not a BBQ but merely an expensive outdoor grill - hence the extended wait time before taking the plunge! .
The "proper" (although gas) BBQ now at the tip, was covered in grease and filth but provided, for my taste, a great smoky cooking experience.
Cadac sell a "smoker" (a stainless can with holes) to create a smoky environment under the cooking lid.
Just wondering if anyone has used this "extra" and how good has the experience been.
The wood chips seem very expensive and ..read more
