Unhitching Caravan troubles
Caravan Club

Recently we took our Caravan to Paignton and despite our SATNAV saying it was avoiding the road closure to the site, we ended up going down the road closure. Now being a novice tower (only been towing for under a year) and having not mastered the art of reversing our van, I normally unhitch and move the caravan on the motor mover when in difficult situations. However for some unknown reason the caravan wouldn't unhitch from the van, as such I was forced into reversing myself out of this predicament (I think I've now mastered this). Anyway I'm just wondering if anyone else has had issues with g ..read more

Coachman caravan- Fabric fading
Caravan Club

I would be interested to know if any other Coachman caravan owner has noticed that their seating cushions have faded. Our Coachman VIP seating fabric faded within 15 months from new; on contacting the manufacturer they stated that there was nothing wrong with the fabric and yes it had faded, but that was due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. I have calculated that its exposure to sunlight would be circa 25 days; blinds are drawn for the remainder of that period when not in use. They suggested that I keep the blind drawn to prevent further fading- REALY!      Brian ..read more

Hi there  I have a thetford truma ultra heat heater and on 240v it does nothing but blow out cold air. I have had my pcb away for repair and the guy tested it and there was no fault found and it was returned. When I have put it back in the heater it was the same fault. I have taken the front off the fire and the element it got hot to touch when it was set to 500 but when set to 1000 or 2000 the element cooled down to cold.  can anyone shed any light on what the fault could be please? Thank you ..read more

Eriba touring vans eg 430

We re looking at investing in an Eriba 430 as an alternative to our current Sterling Eccles Topaz two berth. Partly to achieve a smaller, lighter outfit to tow and also one with a lower roof profile when not in use so it could be more easily screened if stored at the front of the house. Any thoughts / comments from current or past Eriba owners please . It would be smaller I think in terms of storage and also lacks an oven/ microwave compared with what we have now. On the plus side you can have a bike rack on the front. Are they v expensive to insure/ service? Thank you ..read more

How difficult can it be!

I’m looking at a Coachman VIP 575, 2024 model. Noticed it has a wheel carrier and wondered with a fitted motor mover, if a Jack type bracket could be fitted? Fitted, say for either an alko Jack or a kojak Jack. What do experienced coachman owners do?  Only able to use a trolley Jack?   To get any consistent clear answers  from dealers seems problematic. Why isn’t it a openly known situation. Moderator Comment - Moved from Story Section ..read more

Recent caravan service and problem

I recently had my 2016 Coachman VIP 575 serviced, everything ok until the mobile engineer came to remove the nearside wheel hub to check the brakes, hub stuck, no way it could be removed no matter how he tried. Boy did he try. Only thing to do he said, " Order a hub puller and I'll be back when I get it". He came back today with a the puller and another engineer, hub duly removed but lo and behold the bearing was, for another word, knackered. No matter what they tried there was no way that bearing was moving. Sorry, engineer said, looks like we've got to replace the hub stub, I'll order one an ..read more
