What is this on my Betta?

My Betta is 2.5 years old, lives in a 5.5 gallon heated and filtered tank. He’s been acting strange the last few weeks, not swimming, only hanging out at the bottom or close to the top on a leaf, so it’s been really hard to feed him since he won’t come to the surface for food, and when he’s on his leaf at the top he won’t swim at all to get the food even if I drop it right next to him. I do a 50% water change weekly and clean the tank. Today I noticed a white thing attatched to him, not sure... What is this on my Betta ..read more

Hello, Just looking for a tips. Planted the carpet for my first tank a few weeks ago, so I have some time to plan. My first tank, its a 10gal bowl no cover. Things are looking great, its all popin off! My plans is to get: Chili Rasbora 8-10 True Siamese Algae Eaters (open to other considerations) 2 Maybe Shrimp This leaves me with some room considering the 1''x1gal rule. (I'll probably be over just a bit technically) Looking for recommendations for 1 more tank mate fish non schooling. My... First tank ..read more

I left my daughter in charge of my house for 11 days while gone on vacation. I told her to turn the tank (10G) light on on while feeding the 4 black Tetras. These are the hardiest fish I've ever had and have lost only 1 in 5+ years. I may have forgotten to tell her to turn the light off. I came home (on a redeye) to green tank. 'I'll think about that tomorrow,' I thought. It's tomorrow. I have a scraper. Any hints on the best way to clean ..read more

Is my Pleco diseased?
Fish Forums

I recently have had several fish passing away in my tank. Initially it seemed like it may have been due to my tiger barbs, but I just noticed that one of my Plecos is covered in greenish spots. I did some googling but did not find anything that completely matched this condition. I’m wondering if this is a contagious disease or algae buildup? In any case, should he be removed from the tank or is there a way to treat/remove these dots? Thanks ..read more

Hello! I just moved into a new home that has a small outdoor pond. I don't believe the pond has been managed for several years, but there are 10 or so fish that seem to be thriving and have survived central texas winters. Can you help me identify the species from the attached picture? They range in size from 1 to 4 inches. Thanks ..read more
