Getting a FSD strike

What causes a strike? My partner came back last night from a business trip and he said he got a strike. He said that he saw the warning to apply pressure to the wheel and he did, as usual, but he said the car didn't recognize it and the screen started turning blue. He tugged it again and again no reaction. At that point he tugged harder and that force pulled the car out of FSD. It was then that he got the strike. I know how he drives. He takes his hands off the wheel and just waits for the message the tugs the wheel and then removes his hand again. I always have one hand on the left holding t ..read more

Thoughts while debating between a used X and a new Y

Model 3 owner here, in Hawaii, which is essentially the perfect place for all things electric. I have a monster solar system on my roof and 2 batteries, and my wife drives our 2018 M3 to work while I work from home. Power is wildly expensive in Hawaii, but we're very fortunate as we have enough roof space to turn the house into its own little power station, and we are essentially negative 300-400 KWh/month with essentially zero power bill. For our second vehicle, I want to stop buying gas and get a second EV, but am debating between a couple of used model X's- from 2017 or 2018, in the 50K ra ..read more

Ways to specifically correct speed limit map data?

I've seen some posts on this in the distant past, but wondering if there is any updated info. There is a small road on the way to my home, just a stretch of one block, that appears to be set to 15mph in the map data, coming from a 40mph road. I believe it should at least 25-30. It makes FSD pretty useless to take me all the way home as I have to disengage every time unless nobody is behind me and want to look silly creeping at 15mph to the stop sign to turn onto my road. Anyone found a way you can specifically submit map updates about correct speed limits aside from just disengaging FSD and l ..read more

2015 MS 85D for a 2020M3 AWD LR

So my 2015MS 85D Tesla used car warranty is about to run out, and the battery and drain train warranty expires in November, it has 134,000 km on it (84,000 miles) I bought it 2nd hand 3 years ago and have put 80,000km on it in that time. Thinking of trading up/down for a 2020M3 AWD long range, not sure if I just keep MS and run it until it dies or trade now. Tesla no longer sell MS or MX in New Zealand so the future is another brand or M3 or MY. I used to like little cars 3xhonda CRX’s as a student and younger person, then a mini then when the kids arrived Subaru legacy wagon (AWD for snowboa ..read more

Possible PTD Bug

This just happened and so I haven't gone back to try to recreate it yet but I thought I'd see if anybody else has had this happen. I was parked in my garage with the charging cable in. I got in the car to leave, entered my PIN to drive and went to put it in reverse. Of course the car refused because I forgot to remove the charging cable. So I got out and removed it and got back in the car. But this time, it did not ask me for the PIN to drive. I went straight to reverse. This strikes me as a security problem. If I was at a supercharger and this happened, what if somebody wanted to steal my ca ..read more

Frunk latch actuator breaks easily??

Just got a nice service bill for over $500 for a couple issues with my 2018 Model 3, the major issue being the frunk latch actuator, and was told this was an almost "common" replacement by the service desk. Curious to see if anyone else has had issues with the frunk latch actuator? Just curious how many other Model 3 owners have had to have their frunk latch actuator replaced? At what point is it "recall" worthy? Seems like this part should last longer than 5 years especially with minimal use. Let me know! submitted by /u/choff10 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Uberturbine aero covers = higher efficiency?

I’m not sure if I just mastered the art of optimizing range with my driving habits + summer time keeps battery temperature in a more ideal level but I have been at 200 Wh/mi consistently for the past few months and my only theory is that Uberturbine aero covers on my 18in wheels is the reason for the improvement. I haven’t consistently maintained such low Wh/mi last summer submitted by /u/honey495 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
