Just got a new 1987 mint 4Runner. Rear leaf springs are sagging. Was going to get a new set of OME springs that claim to have a 2" lift. New Bilstein shocks all around too. Will I also need to add a set shackles to the rear? Hoping I don't have to, but do I need to also mess with the front, add a set of ARB Front Torsion bars or 2" front spacers? Hoping I can just add the new OME rear springs and shocks and be GTG! Thx ..read more

This tutorial gives a step by step for installing a 1/2" Cornfed (or other brand) front spacer (aka leveling kit) on a KDSS equipped 5th Gen 4Runner. A 1/2" front spacer will yield a 1" lift due to the geometry of the front suspension.
Rationale:
I consider this 1/2" spacer, 32-33” A/T tires, and a proper skid plate to be essential mods on any 5th Gen 4Runner other than the TRD Pro. The TRD Pro sits 1" higher from the showroom floor, has Nitto Terra A/T tires, and has the more proper...

Picked up another 4Runner...this one in a 2001 with only 150K miles on it. Pretty bone stock so I have gone through and replaced ball joints control arms and a few other things to get it ready for a 2" lift (seems all bilstien kits are on backorder). Anyway, I wanted to also put a new radiator in just to be safe and ordered what I need...all OEM. So when I went to take out the old one I noticed that someone had disconnected the transmission lines and just looped them so they did not run...

I think my truck is suffering from a multiple personality disorder. With the 3RZ in my Gen1 4Runner I'm not sure if it's still a Gen1 4R, or if it's a Gen1/3 4R hybrid. My front diff is out of a FZJ80. My rear diff is from a Gen2 V6 4R. My transmission is from a 1987 turbo truck. My brake rotors are from a FJ60, and the calipers from a Gen2 V6 4R. I'm having an identity crisis. Could we say my truck is a product of heterosis (hybrid vigor)? I'm confused.
"Heterosis, hybrid vigor, or...

Hey Dudes,
If you have a set of aftermarket upper control arms with uniball joints and the joints are due for a replacement, this video will show you how to swap them out. We feature two tools in the video. One comes from Total Chaos which is a specific tool made to replace uniball joints. The other tool is a press sleeve kit that can be used for a multitude of jobs like wheel bearing replacements and control arm bushing replacements. The press sleeve kit is a much better value for anyone...

Hey folks! 100 series owner coming in peace. Just finishing up my 100 series build. Will be about as good as I can get without an SAS, which I don’t want to do on that rig.
I’m considering a 4Runner SAS or an 80 series to build up that I can feel less guilty beating on. And tackle some of the tougher local stuff.
Came across this 4Runner which already has SAS/lockers etc for a pretty solid starting point.
Any general thoughts from this crew? My runner knowledge is lacking...

Hey everyone! I'm new here, so I wanted to introduce myself and show my ride. I have a few projects on my list that I'm looking to get done. Towards the top of that list is a Goose Gear or alternative since GG has a hefty price tag. I have Cali Raised sliders that just came back from getting fresh powder coating. Also have Baja Designs fogs that need to be installed.
Anyway, here's my 2014 Limited with a 3" Fox lift, SCS F5's with -38 offset, Baja Designs ditch lights, Prinsu rack and...
