So glad you have it sorted, no skimmer basket? Are you plugging the vac pipe directly into the skimmer port, better via a vacuum plate and retain the skimmer basket as you can scrunch up a cotton towel for the really fine debris. Hopefully you can see how the water restriction can also be the weir plate sticking in the skimmer as Dennis originally suggested. Just an update to tell you all how it resolved itself. I couldn't find the air leak, because there was none. I couldn't find anything wrong with the pump, despite taking it apart, because there was no issue with it. Tech came out and he had a high powered industrial blower with him, that he used to "flush" the skimmer pipe. On the fourth go or so, alternating ends, we managed to flush out a lighter.. more correctly, my wife's lighter that she apparently managed to drop into the skimmer line the one time she hooked up the vacuum on her own. The lighter, probably stuck in the last 90 degree be ..read more

Keep going you'll find it. The hiss is air leaking out, not in. I was talking about that it happens when I relieve the pressure on the pump-basket-lid when the pump is not active. English isn't my first language so I may have expressed myself in a bit of a weird way perhaps. As in, if I turn off the pump and look inside pump basket I can see the o ..read more

Teapot1 wrote: Filter is on the pressure side so wont be your problem. If the pool is going green add chlorine, you dont need a pump for that. Not being there as a second pair of eyes we can only make suggestions but they are based on hundreds of similar cases, air breaks the draw of water and you have eliminated some possibilities, keep looking including cracks in the pump housing or pipe leaks. Pressure testing the line if you can. I'll do a work over tomorrow again. The thing is, there isn't a whole lot of piping that could even had the leaks. I don't have any pictures of it right now ..read more
