Hi Everyone! I have a neutered male 5 year old cat. It took me 2 years to get him to eat a specific food consistently. My cat refuses any type of wet food such as pates, shreds, mouses even wet treats. At one point he starved himself and I was so desperate for him to eat I gave him science hills, purina and all of that! Finally I had found this site (new account now) and I noticed people kept mentioning a brand called Dr.Elseys specifically the chicken dry food. I couldnt believe it he ate... Hey everyone! I have an almost 8 month old kitten that’s picky! Lately he’s only been wanting to eat Friskies shreds or pate however I’d prefer to feed him something a little more healthier and aimed for kittens. I’ve tried Tiny Tiger, American Journey, and Sheba and he doesn’t like them. He does like his sisters BFF pate food but it’s not for kittens. I have gotten him some kitten Weruva food but it’s a little pricey and he doesn’t like them as much as the BFF pate. I want it to be a kitten... Wet food suggestions for picky kitten ..read more

Dry cat foods - my suspicions

First things first, I have no choice but to feed my cat dry food. She never learnt to eat properly, she doesn't use her teeth, she only licks and that only works for dry food. So please do not suggest that I use wet food as a solution, she can't eat it and she gave up trying. Here's why I'm alarmed as far as dry food is concerned. E.g. it's written on a 5kg package that there's 25% of crude protein in this cat food. According to my calculations, it takes about 15kg of raw meat for it to be... Getting a very stubborn cat to eat wet food

Wanted to see if there were any suggestions out there we haven't tried! We have a 13 year old kitty whi has only ever eaten kibble and almost exclusively crunchy treats. Doesn't like wet things and by that I mean even if he got saliva on some kibble he wouldn't touch it. We have found a couple varieties of softer treats he will each but those are rate exceptions. We've tried many things over the years- putting the kibble on the wet food (won't touch even the kibble cause ya know, its wet.)... Getting a very stubborn cat to eat wet food ..read more

Cat Won't Eat in the Hot Weather

About a month ago, we had a couple of unseasonably hot days here in the northeast, and Maple did not eat much until it got cooler. Not even dry food. I didn't want to jump to conclusions, so I wondered if maybe she didn't feel good that day or had stomach issues. She was also very lethargic. As soon as the weather went back to normal she began eating well again. Now it's hot again, and she's behaving the same. Just a few nibbles. Her dish is usually licked clean by this time of day. She's... Cat Won't Eat in the Hot Weather ..read more

I've been having a situation with Mia since December and it's honestly just been getting worse. We want to take her to the vet, but it stresses her out so much that we've been trying home fixes to try and see if we can calm her anxiety at home before going the medication route. So far we have tried diffusers, calming spray, & calming treats. None of which seem to work or have any affect on Mia. Someone suggested Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Adult Calm Dry Cat Food to me but I've always been... Anxiety Cat Food ..read more

My cat is on an appetite stimulant and eats all night long. Royal Canin renal wet food has to be kept cold once the can has been opened. It changes color and gets a crust fast.I use a dual auto feeder with an ice pack underneath I just read that cold food is not good for a cat's stomach. If I were to microwave her food,I would get not 1wink of sleep. Does your cat do well on cold wet food ..read more

I have been hunting for a quality cat food. Found Identity. Worth the money: new line rabbit or quail 3 ounce cans. said it is the exact same formula as the dog food 6 ounce cans if you want to get a larger can but In not sure if it has taurine that cats need. Also has a quail with turkey formula. No weird things added in: no gums no seeds that cause toxic exposures or inflammation. It does have coconut oil in it. Someone suggested that coconut oil is hard for the cats to digest as it... New Identity rabbit / quail / quail & turkey ..read more

My cat has megacolon. For whatever reason I've had a hard time getting his food. Royal Canin gastrointestinal fiber response dry food is the only food he will eat that works well with his condition. And trust me I've tried for years to switch him to a wet diet. Raw, homemade, cheap and expensive canned, soups... You name it I've tried it. He will only eat dry kibble. Can't soak it. He actually became underweight while I was trying to find him a food so in the end I settled on this dry food... Royal Canin gastrointestinal fiber response dry cat food alternatives ..read more

Kidney centric diets and Raw food.. Quick read.

I found this ver informative. Should I feed my cat with chronic kidney disease a raw diet? Cift notes is cats with impaired kidney function cannot eat a high protein diet. It's not just the phosphorus levels but toxins created via the digestion of protein itself. So when you get upset like I do when you have to do feed your cats commercial kidney-centric diet which...
