Hello, everyone. I am from another country and I am writing to you through an online translator. I recently bought a 2008 Sierra 3500HD with a 6.0 LY6 gasoline engine and a 6L90 gearbox. We have very few such cars, spare parts and information on them is also scarce. Tell me, please, how are these LY6 and 6L90 units in general in terms of reliability and resource? What are their weaknesses and what should be monitored and maintained intensively? What are the nuances and weaknesses of this car... GMC Sierra 3500HD 2008 (LY6+6L90 ..read more

Long time lurker, first time poster, so apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place. I recently had a slow-speed (<15mph) accident in my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT that left me with a jaw-dropping $20,000 in bodywork. That's after spending $1500 to get the slightly-tweaked frame straightened. Front bumper assembly is trash, right headlight assembly is trash, hood is badly dented on leading edge, right front fender is badly creased, and air bag went off. Left front fender, according the... EVAP Code P0446 Help

My 2006 Silverado threw the code P0446 (EVAP Vent circuit malfunction). I looked at some of the other boards online as to find out how to fix. I have replaced the purge valve solenoid in the engine compartment and the vent valve solenoid under the truck. When I replaced the vent valve, I realize that it had been replaced back in 2011. I also replaced the filter box and the gas cap and after 60 miles it still gives me the check engine light. I have checked the vent valve plug and I get... EVAP Code P0446 Help ..read more

2013 Silverado Electrical issues ...

In 2020 I purchased a used 2013 HD 2500 Silverado. The first couple years was a recurring: local shop makes a repair, drives great on the way home then runs like crap and send back to shop. After replacing the engine, a couple wire harnesses and many electrical components it ran great for about a year. It has always seemed to have a slow electrical draw because it would occasionally, after not running for few days, would crank slow like the battery was low, but it always ran ok. The... 2013 Silverado Electrical issues ..read more

I have a 2011 GMC Sierra, 5.3. 159,000 miles. I have no issues to report; engine runs fine. I've heard some say AFM causes lifter problems so I'm wondering if I should I buy an AFM disabler. An article I read on chevytrucks.org website recommended the Boost disabler ($149) because they said it was the only one made in the US, with all others made in China. I "think" that website is probably not actually part of GM. I've watched my dashboard indicator go to the "V4", but its usually only... AFM ..read more

P0300 Random misfire - 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 Classic WT 4.3 V6 Vortec

My 4.3 V6 misfires on Cylinder 4 and occasionally Cylinder 3 (Firing order 1-6-5-4-3-2.) To reproduce, you have to hold the RPMs between 1600 and 2000 either in park or while driving. You can also start driving in 1st gear and it will misfire on 4 like crazy once you hit 8MPH. Slight "bumping" at idle can be felt, but not enough for P0300. This is the only code and it is not always set. If you are on the highway it won't misfire unless you're going down a hill in the above RPM range... 2015 Silverado double-cab LT with 4.3L V6 Was previously a lease. Purchased pre-owned from dealer in 2018. Oil change performed every 7,000 miles average give or take a hundred. Used only full synthetic oil, Castrol or Pennzoil with Purolator BOSS oil filter. Have never used bargain products. Oil consumption has been less than a quart over 6-7k miles. Oil changed in January of this year per my normal procedure and products. Today I got an Engine Oil Low warning and had to add... 2 quarts of oil in 3400 miles ..read more

All of a sudden my gear shift will not return to the park position.... I did take the linkage off under the steering wheel and it appears to be in the steering column somewhere since it didn't change the response of the shifter going into park. Does anyone have any past experience with this kind of situation?? thanks Heath ..read more

Purchasing Advice: 2002 Silverado 2500HD 6.6L Extended Cab

I have a friend who has a 1995 Ford F-250 7.3L Power Stroke which is in need of repairs. The mechanic provided a quote of roughly $7K for the major repairs. Not bad for the work listed however that is for the major stuff. There are plenty of small things which will likely add up to thousands of dollars as well. The mechanic has a 2002 2500HD 6.6L, extended cab, and 8' bed which has 384K miles on the clock. He said he'd let it go for $7K, the price of the repairs on the F-250. The truck is...
