Resurrection - not always a positive?

I just started reading the Pres Nelson biography by Sheri Dew. In it is referenced an experience his grandfather had of conversing with his own father who had previously passed away. Pres Nelson's grandfather asked about the reality of the resurrection. Pres Nelson's great-grandfather replied: "Yes, my son, as true as can be. You cannot avoid being resurrected. It is just as natural for all to be resurrected as it is to be born and die again. No one can avoid being resurrected. There are many spirits in the spirit world who would to God, that there would be no Resurrection." I thought this was ..read more

Divine Currency and Economy

Recently I was having a discussion with my brother, and he introduced to me an idea that I had not thought much about – divine currency.   Because currency is closely associated with the economy – I thought defining economy would be a good place to start.  Among the definitions of economy – I would project that economy is, in essence, the practices, discourses and expressions associated with the production, use and management of resources (copied from Wikipedia).   The word from scripture that seems to deal with G-d and his overseeing of resources is, in scripture, the ..read more

Such a crazy book.  The mere composition of the book proves that Joseph Smith translated it. I found the following work quite helpful. https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/jbms/vol4/iss2/5/   ..read more

Have we decided to live the lesser law?

How many times have the prophets told fathers to support their families and mothers to stay home and raise the next generation? My patriarchs are giving my daughters blessings to get an education and prepare to provide for the family. We see general authorities appointed whose wives have extensive work histories outside the house (while raising children). Will there be repercussions? Or should I send my wife out into the workforce so we can have a nice RV & houseboat ..read more

I do not fully understand these scriptures.  What does this mean?   11 And the Lord said unto him [the brother of Jared]: Believest thou the words which I shall speak? 12 And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie. 13 And when he had said these words, behold, the Lord showed himself unto him, and said: Because thou knowest these things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back into my presence; therefore I show myself unto you.  -- Book of Ether chapter 3 Does this mean that the Brothe ..read more

The Book of Mormon: A Latter-day Guide to Manhood

Last year as I was reading through the Book of Mormon again, I was inspired to really notice all the father-son(s) dynamics, I then realized that beyond being the "keystone of our religion" and our "latter-day survival guide", it is specifically directed at men. I believe Mormon was inspired to include the things he did because the Lord knew in the days it would come forward masculinity and manhood would be under attack and the accounts in the Book of Mormon can help to counter that trend. The Book of Mormon addresses: *how to be a good husband (Lehi) *how to be a good father (Lehi, Jacob ..read more

What is Command over the Elements?

When I was 15, in a Teachers Quorum lesson about the power of the Melchezidek Priesthood, I was told that among plenty of other things, I would have access to something called Command over the Elements. I immediately pictured the Periodic Table, and then quickly realized that if I heard right, the Melchezidek Priesthood would allow me to turn a bar of Lead into Gold. I imagined the looks on the faces of alchemists who have attempted that for centuries as I did so in front of them. Any why stop at Lead I thought. Water is simply Hydrogen and Oxygen mixed together, so I could turn bottles of wat ..read more
