Yesterday, June 21st, is known as the Summer Solstice otherwise known as “the longest day of the year”. This officially marks the beginning of summer. Now, I do not think that the beginning of summer was able to sneak up on any of us, with temperatures last week with highs of 99 degrees essentially every day. But, we’re here, and the sun didn’t go down till what felt like midnight last night.  The holiday of Summer Solstice has been around for thousands of years. Civilizations like the ancient Mesopotamians, Celtic Druids, and Egyptians all celebrated this day in wild manners. Let’s get ..read more

It’s summer time! After a spring that flirted with being hot or cold, there is lots of sunshine in our future. Thankfully, there is a holiday coming Saturday, June 18th that is going to help us get into the summer spirit: International Picnic Day. If you want to know how to celebrate, it is pretty simple: get out from under that blanket, and go sit on top of one! Now before I try to convince you to partake in a picnic Saturday, I want to dive deeper into the origins of this manner of eating.  Let’s get some of the facts from its origin: The start of picnics occurred post-French Revoluti ..read more

Memorial Day marks the beginning of the summer for so many. Kids are out of school, the weather is nicer to be outside more and so many take some time off of work to relax, travel and to just enjoy life. But for some the summer months can bring anxiety, depression, uneasiness and even trigger some not so great things. There can be a sense of being overwhelmed and feeling of uncertainty during this time rather than having a carefree mindset. Being aware of your mental health and making sure you’re taking care of you first is important. And with May being Mental Health Awareness month, it’s a p ..read more

Who’s ready for the beach?! Honestly, most of us probably don’t feel like we are ready to get into those summer outfits or bathing suits just yet - don’t worry, you’re not alone! But summer is already here, so are we too late to feel/look good in our summer wardrobe? If you ask me, I’d say heck no! There’s many different variations of this but I love the saying “How to get a bikini body: 1. Put a bikini on your body.” This goes for us all and is so true! Get in that cute summer outfit or bathing suit and rock it with confidence no matter what! If you’re still wanting to get or stay fit throug ..read more

The days are longer and the weather is finally turning warmer here in Nashville! The end of the school year is approaching, more outdoor festivals are happening and the pools are starting to open up. It’s time to spend more time outside! But we all know with the warmer temperatures upon us, also comes the humidity. Some love it but for others it’s not so much fun. Having AC to hide away from the summer heat, sounds like a dream most days. Staying inside though, you’ll miss out on all the fun! We may not have a beach close by for us to drive to easily on the weekends, but there are plenty of w ..read more

A It’s time to spring forward! Well technically the official start of spring happened last week with the time change but we know it can take a few days or even a week to adjust. Took me a week to shake that hazy, almost jet lag feeling. And now that the limbo feeling has subsided, although we lost an hour, I’m enjoying that extra hour of daylight in the evenings. Getting home when it’s still light outside keeps me motivated to get more of my to-do list done throughout the week so I can enjoy more fun on the weekends. What do you do with your extra hour of sunshine at the start of this season ..read more
