Why was/is Vancouver the long shot in the playoffs?

I don’t really understand why everyone has them at long shot odds to make a deep run. They were 4-0 vs Edmonton this season, they picked up Elias Lindhom at the trade deadline, they have a deep goaltender core. Even just based on their standings in the regular season I don’t understand it. Are people discounting them just from that one stat about their shot % being too high? What other reasons are there? Saying they don’t have a deep roster isn’t a good reason imo, Edmonton doesn’t have a deep roster and poor goaltending and they’re #2 favourites right now. submitted by /u/Infamous_SpiPi [vi ..read more

Zach Parise, who likely played in his final NHL game last night, had long handshake line embraces with his longtime teammate, Ryan Suter, and longtime coach, Pete DeBoer.

Currently with the Dallas Stars (1st - Central), New York Rangers (1st - Metro), Florida Panthers (1st - Atlantic) each clinching the conference finals in the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, there are going to be 3/4 top seeds in the final 4. If Vancouver eliminates the Edmonton Oilers tomorrow, they will become the 4th division winner to clinch the conference finals as they are the 1st seed in the Pacific. If Vancouver does end up winning, setting us up for each of the four 1 seeds to clash in the final 4 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, I am wondering when (if ever?) is the last time that this has h ..read more
