Hi Everyone. I am playing with 2002 XD Elantra GL with a 1.8lt powertrain and 5 speed manual. Not long after the purchase the engine failed. We bought another manual 2002 XD GLS with the 2.0lt, which I compression Tested prior to purchase, it ran but the 5 speed gearbox was knacked. I have married up the gearbox from the 1.8lt to the 2.0lt, reinstalled engine and manual gearbox in the vehicle but now I can not get it to start. It cranks but will not turn over. My question... A little background information: 2002 Elantra, 4cylinder 2.0., overheated and blew head gasket. I replaced head gasket, all hoses, radiator, cam position sensor, spark plugs, oil change, water pump, timing belt, and radiator. The car seems to idle low, around 500rpm, a little rough. It bogs down or hesitates on acceleration. I've reset the ECU and put it through over 3 drive cycles. No error codes. Double checked spark plug gaps, they're correct.
