Would the Toronto Maple Leafs bring Matt Murray back next season? Jonas Siegel of The Athletic: Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Matt Murray is in the AHL on a conditioning loan as he works back from the bilateral hip surgery he had in October. Murray is a pending UFA and it’s possible that Maple Leafs could bring him back next but it would be as a No. 3 or a No. 4 goaltender on the depth chart. It would allow Murray to try and work his way back to the NHL from there. The never-ending story of the Arizona Coyotes is finally coming to an end. Nothing is final regarding the NHL’s relocation of the Arizona Coyotes to Salt Lake City, however, the wheels are in motion. The best solution for the NHL and the Coyotes is to relocate them and start over. It just has not worked out long-term for the Coyotes. When the franchise first came from Winnipeg, it was successful. They made the playoffs in five of their six seasons in the desert, but Arizona never made it out of the first round. 26 teams were interested in Collin Graf TSN: 26 teams showed interest in college free agent Collin Graf before he signed with the San Jose Sharks last week. “It came down to six teams with the Minnesota Wild, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Colorado Avalanche among those six teams. But obviously, there is ample opportunity in San Jose. It’s a team that’s gutted its roster and trusts in where that rebuild is going. The Philadelphia Flyers and Ivan Fedotov talking contract extension TSN: Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Ivan Fedotov is 27 years old and a UFA after the season, and it doesn’t sound like he’s going to make it to free agency according to Chris Johnston. “It sounds like considerable progress has been made towards an extension and it might not be something we see announced in-season here, might come a little bit after the year. But, certainly, from both sides of the equation for Fedotov and the Flyers, I think that they want this to be a longer-term stint together and I do expect him to be signed ..read more

It makes sense for the Toronto Maple Leafs to extend Mitch Marner and not trade him Dan Rosen of NHL.com: (mailbag) This offseason isn’t the offseason for the Toronto Maple Leafs trade forward Mitch Marner. He is a do-everything forward for the Leafs. He’s not taking less than his $10.9 million. You don’t trade someone like Marner unless you’re getting equal value back. It’s likely a trade the Leafs wouldn’t win unless they’re getting back a No. 1 one defenseman of similar age. The Leafs should sign him to a long-term extension and deal with Marner, Auston Matthews, and William Nylander making ..read more
