This year we commenced a project with the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC). The series we created for them is “GRDC in Conversation”, a limited series for the GRDC Podcast.
Featuring in-depth, long-form interviews with growers and other experts in the grains industry, the series aims to help growers explore research outcomes and ideas through a different perspective. Oli weaves a story not just about the technical innovations but the expertise, history and personal background, influences and motivations of each guests.
There’s a few well known names on the list, if you ..read more

Regenerative agriculture can be defined by a few different farming practices, with the overarching aim being reviving soils and creating biodiverse farming environments.
It is a system that Farmers Footprint is hoping will be widely adopted in order to drastically reduce the chemicals used in some farming practices and result in positively impacting the carbon footprint.
Farmers Footprint is a not-for-profit organisation which centres around advocating regenerative agriculture practices. While Farmers Footprint (US) was established in 2019 by Zach Bush MD, Australia has begun its own Far ..read more

From couples who against all odds have overcome adversity with a positive mindset to an incredible chat with a lifelong mentor, the gems of wisdom and advice from a leading CEO, a family farmer who made the tough decision to selflessly walk away from the family farm and a fella wearing his heart on his sleeve and embracing vulnerability that inspired so many.
We’re feeling a little bit nostalgic and on top of reflecting on what a huge, adventurous and fun year it has been we wanted to look back at some of the conversations that you have all loved this year.

“Tough, fun and joyous.”
Those are the three words Angus Street chose to describe his 2022.
Angus, who you might know as CEO of AuctionsPlus, has had quite the journey to get where he is.
Growing up on a property in northern New South Wales, Angus fell in love with the “shrubby country” that had been in his family for “four or five generations.” He said his dream job would be to be a farmer.
“I’d love to be a farmer if I’m honest with you. I love being around nature. I love walking barefoot on the grass, listening to the birds, listening to the cattle, in the grass or in pastures. I real ..read more

It’s exciting time for the Humans of Agriculture team as we welcomed Naomi & Maya in recent weeks.
You’ll be seeing and hearing their names pop up a whole lot more often, for now, find out a little bit more about them.
Maya
Born, raised and schooled in Bendigo VIC, Maya’s love for stories and skill for the written word is suspected to have been passed down from her English teacher parents (yes, both of them). After school she wanted to be involved in journalism to “stop it being so shit”/tell stories that really mattered.
“I think what drew me to Humans of Agriculture was how persona ..read more

“I sort of reached a point at Beetaloo where there probably wasn’t the opportunity to keep going up, and then I needed to sort of take a step back and look at where I was, and probably assess where I wanted to be.”
When we last spoke with Hugh Dawson for episode 25 of the Humans of Agriculture podcast in 2020, he was on his now “infamous” six year gap year, camped in a Donga with some pretty dodgy wifi.
At the time, he was Head Stockman on Beetaloo Station, flying a mustering chopper and enjoying the landscapes (and weather) of the Northern Territory, a stark contrast given he’s traded t ..read more
