Hey everyone,
I need some more insight if someone had a similar situation before.
I'm in a removal proceedings from an asylum application, and I got married and applied for I-130 and I-485 with USCIS. I-130 got approved but the I-485 got administrative closure. Before my master hearing, the case was administratively closed with the court pending I-130. Now I have 2 pathways, first one is to request termination of removal proceeding so USCIS can adjudicate I-485. Second one is to apply for...

‘Refused’ status 3 days after approval. MTL embassy. Case says updated April 19 2 days after interview, but still no change in status - help me stop panicking.
Hello, I was approved for my CR1 on Tuesday morning in Montreal. Was not asked for any additional information.
The officer told me to expect my passport to be returned in about 6 days, it could take up to 2 weeks.
I checked my status on CEAC yesterday and it says ‘refused’.
I’ve heard this can just be the default status while...

I am a US citizen and my mom came to stay with me during the pandemic ( 2021) and 2.5 years later, we finally received her Green Card + SSN+ EAD + Parole documents in Feb 2024.
Since we had been waiting for her Green Card, she wasn't able to go back to India for all these years but now she is dead set on going back at least for a year.
My question is how long can she stay outside the US without getting in issues when returning. Some places it seems a GC holder can only stay overseas for...

I am a U.S. citizen and am currently applying for green cards for my parents, who reside in India. The I-130 petitions for both of them have been approved.
Regarding the DS-260 form: All the documents on my mom’s DS-260 have been accepted except for the marriage affidavit. My parents were married back in the 80s in a traditional ceremony, and unfortunately, they do not possess a formal marriage certificate. Instead, they obtained two marriage affidavits from their respective...

I am filing for i-130 and i-485 together. My current authorization expires in a month. My current US based employer is happy to transfer me back to India office so I don't have to quit my job. Question I have is, I don't want to leave US and go back to India. Pending 485 extends my legal stay in States. Can I work for Indian company on Indian payroll while continuing my stay here. (assuming my company has no objection) Would that break any laws ..read more

Hey everyone, my aunt has filed I-130(F4 category) for my mother 6 years back and i'm listed as a dependent on the application. I'm currently over 21 and wish to go to the us on a f1/f2 visa.
Would me being a dependent in my mother's i130 be an issue for getting f1/f2 visa? If yes, would it be an issue if i'm aged out as well? Thanks ..read more

Sorry if this is not the right space for this question, could not find a more feasible one.
If my elderly (80 and 74 yo) parents get a green card and move to the US close to me (Florida), what would be their health insurance options? I assume I would have to sign some kind of sponsorship guarantee. Does that include medical costs which can be astronomical in the US if something serious happens? Happy to cover all other costs, but health issues can be too high. I've seen some info about a...
