Hey everyone, I’m trying clear out my late brother’s “stuff” For years he kept his 1970-1/2 Z-28 he bought when he was 18. Of course he sold what Mother Nature didn’t consume shortly before he passed. Seem I remember him saying nothing is offered wood grain from the repop world. I’m pretty sure he bought these off EBay to use in his restoration,, which of course never happened. These are the trim that goes on door panel. Also available are window scrapers,,, I can’t remember if scrapers... Read more ..read more

Large Displacment SBCs Under Stock Hood

This is something I've been toying with for some years, but am still not sure I want to do it. Besides being expensive, I'm not sure I'll be happy with the results. I've been thinking of buying - not building - a large displacement SBC for my '78 Z28, to replace the warmed over original 350. I put Edelbrock heads on it, bumping up the compression a bit; an aluminum intake manifold; GM's old 1960s pre-emission 151 cam; newer HEI distributor with a "better" spark curve; and lighter... Oil pump, Regular vs High Volume?

Ready to put a rebuild 400 together. Looks like the rod bearings will go at 2 thou clearance and the mains closer to 3 thou, new cam bearings. Will use 10w40 oil. I've pretty much always used a high volume pump but I see a lot of recommendations these days to just use a standard pump. Also remember the early Z28s used a standard volume high pressure pump. How about some input on this? Is a Melling pump pretty much the best choice ..read more

Rear Valance Replacement Advice Please

I'm going to cut off my damaged rear valance. I've bought the lower panel that goes up to the rear bumper (blue line on photo) from Classic Industries. Never done a panel removal before. Anyone got any tips on how to attack it? I'm going to drill out the welds across the bottom and break it with a seam splitter tool or air chisel. I am thinking of cutting it right across at the red line and butt welding the new panel there. How does it attach to the rear quarters (green line)? Can't see... Read more ..read more

First off I appreciate the time that any of you spend to read my post. My family purchased a brand new 1980 Camaro, Z 28. The car is in excellent condition, unfortunately, due to some recent health issues, I am no longer capable of having the power in my left leg to push in the clutch on the manual stock transmission. I’m looking for any input into how difficult and expensive it is to change the car over to an automatic and what would be the proper transmission to go with? Also what other... Read more ..read more

2018 GM Trucks, K2XX

I purchased a used 2018 Silverado about a month ago. It is a two wheel drive regular cab short bed with a 5.3 V8 (L83). I had been shopping for this configuration for several months so I felt lucky when I found this particular Silverado. Does anyone own a GM truck with the L83 V8? If so, have you checked your fuel economy? My first tank of 87 octane gasoline returned 16 MPG. This was a mix of city and highway driving. I am on my second take of gas now and according to the truck's MPG... Read more ..read more
