It’s 8am on Saturday 19th December 2018 and my running buddy had talked me into attending my very first GB Ultras Chester recce. This was my first introduction to ultra running and since then I’ve completed over 50 Ultra runs and races over varying distances. Rugby Player Kevin Sinfield runs 7 Ultras for MND

Kevin Sinfield is a dynamite athlete and rugby coach raising money for a very personal cause. In a personal challenge of seven Ultras in 7 Days, the former rugby player is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), which affected teammate and dear friend Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND in 2019. The IAU 24-Hour World Championship is now underway, with countries worldwide sending the best of the best to compete against one another.  The event is the pinnacle of competition regarding 24-hour runs, with athletes showing extreme tenacity and determination. Upon turning 50, Nikki Love wanted to extend her running distances. She had taken on marathons; in 2010, she did seven marathons in seven days. Since 2013, the Threshold Trail Series has consistently welcomed a higher proportion of women than the industry standard. However, female participation across all running distances has declined by 10% since the covid pandemic,* and there is a 24% drop in female participation in Ultras compared to participation in shorter 5km events.
