Nvidia is repurposing Ampere architecture as entry-level, RTX-capable AI GPUs. RTX A400 and RTX A1000 will replace the Turing-based T100, T600, and T400 lineup, which launched in 2021. These two cards are the first in Nvidia’s entry-level professional GPU lineup to introduce Tensor and RT Core technologies. The duo aims to significantly boost performance in AI processing and RTX rendering applications. At first glance, they’re quite sleek-looking, featuring a low-profile, single-slot design. What’s more, these GPUs have no external power connectors and are run solely through their PCIe connect ..read more

Nvidia’s SFF Enthusiast GeForce drive is a big move for small PCs

Nvidia is working with its partners on what it calls SFF Enthusiast GeForce GPUs. The idea is to develop PC cases around recent graphics cards, which tend to be larger than ever. With the recent focus on performance and cooling, graphics card manufacturers went ham on cooler sizes. Thanks to that we had behemoths such as Zotac’s 38cm long RTX 4090D PGF and the RTX 4080 Noctua edition offering serious cooling capacity. However, what they brought in performance they lacked in compatibility. Even some ATX chassis don’t have enough space for these monsters – especially if you like vertical mountin ..read more

Nvidia is seemingly launching its GeForce RTX 5000 GPUs sooner due to AMD’s competition. The GPUs in question, however, aren’t what you’d think. According to Moore’s Law Is Dead, Nvidia’s next-gen Blackwell gaming GPUs may launch before the end of this year. Official announcements, however, could come a lot sooner at Computex in June 2024. It’s a strange turn of events, considering rumours suggest AMD doesn’t have a high-end Radeon RX 8000 in store. According to MLID sources, the reason is AMD’s Machine Learning (MI) products. AMD’s MI350X are just around the corner with more RAM for less mone ..read more

Nvidia has released an official note explaining that GeForce GPUs are not responsible for the crashes on Intel-based systems. While it’s on the CPU manufacturer to fix 13th and 14th-Gen issues quickly, there are a few things you can do to temporarily alleviate the problem. Following the growing number of user complaints regarding system instabilities of machines featuring an Nvidia GPU and Intel CPU, the Green Team has issued the following statement: “If your system is using an Intel 13th/14th Gen unlocked desktop CPU and is experiencing stability issues/out of video memory error messages/cras ..read more

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 spelled disaster for the 12VHPWR power port, after the initial release saw connectors burning up. Despite Team Green’s reassurance that the issue is a thing of the past with the updated 12V-2×6 power cable, repair companies still regularly deal with the problem in droves. “We work on 4090s every day,” says Los Angeles-based repair company Northridge Fix. “Not a single day goes by without us working on a 4090 melted connector. Whether it’s from CableMod or customers all over the world or locals, we get Nvidia cards every single day for melted connectors.” Holding up a ..read more

If you love everything RGB, then this will more than likely leave you in shock. It turns out those beautifully bright LEDs might burn into your graphics card. No, seriously. Gamers report that RGB memory is causing brown scorched-like spots on the backplate of their graphics cards. Two recent posts on Reddit reveal that a duo of MSI GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards have succumbed to the same dreadful fate. It appears the black backplate has turned brown in the exact location where the light from the quad-slot RAM modules shines on the card. Did my brother’s GPU get bleached by RAM? byu/tychii9 ..read more

Whispers through the grapevine have long suggested Nvidia will launch its GeForce RTX 5000 series GPUs this year. To begin with, the brand aims to unleash its most powerful chip first. Fortunately, RTX 5080 doesn’t seem far behind RTX 5090 after all. According to UDN, AIB partners anticipate Nvidia will unveil its next-gen GeForce RTX 5000 series GPUs in Q4 2024. Its sources are optimistic this launch will help increase shipment volume, all while pushing average graphics cards’ prices up. Initially, the Green Team will focus on its high-end offerings, i.e. RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs. The latte ..read more

Some Nvidia graphics cards are about to cost a lot more

After years of graphics card prices heading in the right direction, it looks like inflation is taking hold once again. Nvidia is reportedly increasing the cost of its entry-level GPU by around 10%, and it’s all because of supply constraints. According to UDN, there are three targeted graphics cards, including GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 3050, and GTX 1650. It might seem surprising, given RTX 3050 stealth dropped just two months ago, but rumours suggest that Nvidia always intended to raise MSRP following a cheaper launch window. Price increases will supposedly average around 10%, but the actual fi ..read more

US law now demands that Nvidia sells fewer teraflops abroad

In a back-and-forth between Nvidia and the US government, officials have once again changed rules on semiconductor exports to China. By reducing the Total Processing Power (TTP) allowed to ship to the country, GeForce RTX 4090D falls victim to new restrictions. Politicians haven’t explicitly stated that the limitations are aimed at any one GPU, but there aren’t many others that fit the bill. Green Team created Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090D to comply with the previous iteration of these rules. It’s a little less powerful than the standard RTX 4090 since it has fewer CUDA cores and a lower TDP. Without doubt, the key technology watchwords in 2023 were artificial intelligence (AI). AI’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down this year. Though we’re still very much in the infancy of the technology, generative AI, defined as the ability to create new engaging content, has taken the world by storm. We’re sure everyone reading this has had a play with ChatGPT or other similar programs that are becoming eerily impressive at providing human-like responses to anything you can think of. AI doesn’t happen by magic. Smart AI is trained on huge models that oftentimes contain many billions of pa ..read more
