Oil in Coolant Mystery - 2000 3.8 Mustang

So in the midst of doing a coolant flush and on the 3rd fill and drain, after filling the stuff that came out into a 1 gallon milk jug for disposal I notice a film of oil on the top of the mostly distilled water the next day. Dip my finger in it and its surely oil. Engine oil or Trans fluid? Grabbed a rad pressure tester and ran the test twice - holds 16psi for 15 minutes and also a 30 minute test. No leakage. So, no head gasket leak then apparently. Engine idles/runs well other than sometimes a very slight stumble at highway speeds (but has a code P0401 insufficient EGR flow that I've been t ..read more

I bought a 2016 ecoboost performance package and i noticed a few issues with the ecu/dash. i have only 1 key and my Track apps (line lock, accelerometer etc.) have completely disappeared from the dash menu where they should be. i have an OBD2 connector etc but im not entirely sure what to do with it without breaking my car. there's no MyKey menu etc so i can't just go there and see if it's been disabled. also the traction control button is completely unresponsive. the system itself works, if i spin the wheels it kicks in and limits throttle etc. but pressing/holding the button does nothing. th ..read more

Instrument cluster plastic cover
Mustang Forums

So, I screwed up while cleaning my husband's Mustang. --2019 GT. I cracked the plastic cover over on the instrument cluster. I see the part on the Ford parts site, but how hard is it to replace? I've seen videos for upgrading to a digital cluster that requires taking the whole dash apart. Since this is just the cover, is it that intricate? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm hoping that on the scale of damage, that is not going to be the worst thing to fix ..read more

Transmission ears snapped off block
Mustang Forums

The picture above is a photo off google, but I have circled my issues. The sections in red are transmission brackets that have been totally snapped off the block by the previous owner unfortunately. Green sections are good. Yellow sections I can get bolts to start threading but they stop. Driver side is almost threaded enough to touch the block, but not quite and is really tight. I am using brand new ICT Billet bolts. First question: If I can get the yellow sorted, will I be okay to only run 4 bolts and not worry about the red sections being broke off? The passenger side is pretty much cov ..read more

I have a 2005 mustang GT V8 that has been sitting for a while. And trying to get restarted. I replaced the fuel rail sensor, the mass air flow sensor, new fuel filter, but it keeps coming up with a p1000 code and the pats security light keeps blinking. It cranks like it wants to start very much but just isn't. What can I do ..read more

Windshield wipers leaving odd vertical streak
Mustang Forums

Looking for advice on how to get rid of this vertical line at my windshield wiper end of travel. Only visible when rains, but more permanent than typical wiper streaks. Is annoying because it interferes with sight. Glass is maybe ten years old. I've read that it could be a silicone residue of Rain-X (I often used their wipers, which I replace basically annually). Goo Gone didn't work. Some ideas I've seen: vinegar, acetone, Magic Eraser, polishing compound, BarKeepers Friend, Rain-X Xtreme Clean, Glassparency Glass & Chrome Polish. Video here. 2012 3.7 idle and rev questions?
Mustang Forums

I just inherited a 2012 3.7. It has an Airaid CAI, new stock throttle body, headers and a fairly loud dial exhaust. I don’t know if anything else has been done to the motor as of now? The 1st issue is the idle. It idles fine until it reaches temp. Then the idle gets real rough. I have been told it has something to do with the cooling fans coming on. Effecting the voltage in some way? Has anyone ever heard of that? The 2nd issue is the car revs well, but in the higher revs, when the clutch is in and you let off the throttle, the engine RPMs do not drop. The engine stays reved up. I put a thrott ..read more

V6 Electrical Issues

Hey guys, 2008 grey convertible auto 4.0 with 95,000 miles on the clock here. I am a bit of a shade tree guy. I usually fix my own car problems short of driveline swaps... Just about everything else. Except electrical... I hate electrical. So last year, I would drive my car and the transmission would shift weird on occasion. Then the car started stalling when shifting from reverse to drive... which I did often due to the nature of the work I do and at that time I was using the car for work putting lots and lots of miles in a short time. Then the car would randomly have dead battery issues ..read more
