The Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr John Rabuku, has filed an appeal against the sentence of the former Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and suspended Commissioner of Police, Sitiveni Qiliho. The former PM was granted an absolute discharge while the suspended COMPOL received a conditional discharge with a fine of $1500 this morning (28.03.24) by the Suva Magistrates Court. A road slip on Vatamai Road number eight in 2022 that has yet to be rebuilt is keeping Mohammed Shaheel and- Vatamai residents in Lovu, Lautoka upset and anxious. They have called for a permanent solution so that life can be more convenient, but all pleas for assistance so far have been in vain. Former Melbourne Rebels chief executive officer Baden Stephenson who was recently made redundant of the club’s financial mess of AU$20 million (FJ$29.4m) will start work with the Fijian Drua from April 8. $1M Paid to over 4000 Cane Farmers

The Fiji Sugar Corporation Limited (FSC) paid $1million to 4924 farmers to increase their cane production in 2023. This was done through the corporation’s Farmers Incentive Programme. Under this initiative, growers were rewarded $5 per ton for the difference in total cane supplied between the last two seasons.
