Bijbehara: A non-local labourer was shot dead dead on Wednesday evening in Bijbehara area of Anantnag in south Kashmir.
The man Raja Shah, son of Shankar, a resident of Bihar was shot and injured by militants, police said. He later succumbed to his injuries at Sub District Hospital Bijbehara. He was shot from a very close range.
Tge victim had received two bullets, one in neck and other in abdomen.

Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri called an urgent meeting of officers of various departments to frame the strategy to avoid unfortunate incidents of boat capsizing in future and save precious lives.

Srinagar: Weather department has forecast “widespread light to moderate rain and thunders” on April 18 and 19 even as night temperatures recorded a rise at most places in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

Srinagar: Inspector General of Police Kashmir VK Birdi on Wednesday said that the search operation to trace the three missing persons from river Jhelum is underway.
Birdi said that they have alerted all the police stations along river Jhelum to keep watch.
“Rescue operation continued in the night and resumed in morning. We haven’t found the bodies yet,” he told reporters here.
On Tuesday, a boat ferrying 15 persons including four minor students capsized at Gandbal in Srinagar, resulting in six deaths while three are still missing. The rest were rescued.
