Not mine, but my friends kenmore electric dryer is taking forever to dry clothes. It still produces heat but just takes a long time. Could the heating element be going out? Do they fail somewhat and not produce as much heat or is it all or nothing? What else could be the problem ..read more

Recently had dryer apart to replace noisy drum roller, and when I took drum out I saw the idler wheel was toast too. I still had my old one because I put new one in when doing rear drum rollers a couple years ago, and thought I may as well put new one in while I had it all apart and keep the old as spare. As far as I can remember the old idler was still okay, but when I put it back together I get a squeaking squealing noise, which goes away after a few minutes, sometimes comes back for... Hello Folks, I got 13 years old very basic Admiral washing machine (ATW4475VQ1). In spite of its age, the washer hasn't seen much use. Recently, the washer started to shake at lot and be very noise during the spin cycle. It stays in the basement, so unless I am present at the time during the spin cycle, I would not know for how long it has been doing it. About a week when I went downstairs to collect the clothes, the washer was in a different position; so, clearly something was very wrong... Read more ..read more

Hey all, I’m new here and I like being a DIY kind of guy. I’m having issues with my whirlpool top load (H.E.) not filling with cold water. I have replaced the actuator on the bottom, hot/cold inlet valves and the hoses. I have great pressure from the wall but, all it does is buzz, and not fill with cold water. So, it gets stuck unless I fill it with a garden hose. Then it will start to cycle if again. What do you think needs to be replaced now? Yes, I have done the recalibration... Read more ..read more

My French Door refrigerator/freezer is set at 38/-3. The freezer cycles between -8 and -2 and the refrigerator stays around 40-41. System appears to be working fine with no noises, it's actually quiet, no frost/icing, ice station is functioning. Venting does not appear to be blocked. Is the smaller range with the refrigerator normal or is the freezer too high s range? Perhaps I'm overly concerned ..read more

LG French Door Ref/Freezer A LG tech replaced the evaporator and the compressor, after he left, I put ice in both compartments and after 7 hours, temp in refer is at 37 and freezer is at 14, so I believe, that it's working correctly. Problem now is a slight amount of water accumulating and leaking down the wall behind the water dispenser paddle. Nothing dripping from the dispenser mouth, just behind the paddle. I'm hoping it's just condensation because the freezer and ice compartment are... Read more ..read more

Hello Folks, My water heater went south, and both the upper and lower heat element went bad (led indicator shows that both are broken). The water heater is a Rheem "Performance Plus", model xe50t09el55u1, and it is a 5500 watts water heater. I wen to Rheem website and search engines, but could not find a list of parts (and part number) of the heating element for that water heater. Would that element be generic and used in many different water heaters (brands, models, generations ..read more

GE Profile Fridge PSS26SGRESS — 115° Detected at Freezer Door Seal

GE Profile Artica Side-by-Side Model: PSS26SGRESS The front-facing surface of the center partition btwn fridge/freezer compartments measures a 115° from top to bottom. The consistency in temperature leads me to believe this is by design, perhaps auto-defrost or similar, though no one in this family of four has ever noticed the phenomenon over the years. I used an IR camera to confirm extents of heated surface. Heat is NOT detected in door, at or near the thru-door dispenser and... Read more ..read more

GE models GFW850SPNRS and GFD85ESPNRS. First off, they have the new chemical smell that won't go away, did 36 Million Trillion loads this week, constant Washer-Dryer-Washer-Dryer for hours each day M-T, part of the day so far today... I have only used Baking Soda in the washer the last 2 days because that might take the smell, but not so far. Also using Baking Soda because the smart dispense detergent thing either releases a ton of detergent or the washer won't get it out... I have to do... Read more ..read more

Need to release top cover of my LG WT7300CW Top Load Washing machine so I can clean the hinges holding the Lid in place. Why, after the unit has sat for a while, when opening the Lid there is an obnoxious pop or snap sound. I expect there is something binding in one of the lid's hinges. Need to release the top to get to the hinges and check them for needing cleaning. I looked at the front inside of the top cover be peering over the top of the tub utilizing a flashlight. There are no... Read more ..read more
