Thermostat housing Fiesta 2011 1.6 Duratorq 95ps

Hi all! How common is it for the Thermostat housing itself to fail, versus the gasket on the engine side? My folks car has had a "Thermostat housing" leak for a couple of years. I topped it up the middle of last year, and it's only just above the min line, so it's not a drastic leak by any means. The garage they went to is pricing the job up at £150 but only if it's done with them also doing the cam belt. There isn't any obvious leak around the top, or the green stubby thing that's held in with a clip, but I can't see underneath with the battery and everything in situ... quite how they've noti ..read more

Hello, I have a Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI 2007 and I've noticed a problem while driving, where the exclamation mark and cog warning lights come on, accompanied by a beeping sound, and the instrument panel displays the message "Engine system fault." During diagnostics, an error related to the high-pressure sensor appeared. Can you provide more details about this issue? I can also attach a video recording.    Thanks a lot ..read more

70-Plate Fiesta Mk8 - Digital Service Book??

Hello folks, My daughter collected a 70-plate Fiesta from the dealer yesterday. Was told some guff about the service history being online. She said they mentioned something about an app to download, that she had to create an account and that she needed the vehicle's VIN. Pretty disgusted that they didn't either (a) give her detailed information about how to do this or (b) do it for her/with her when she collected the car. They didn't even give her a print-out of any services done on the car, nor of the latest MOT. Pretty poor really in my opinion. So, from my point of view, what does she need ..read more

Steering question

Hi all, my son has a 2007 fiesta which has just failed the MOT, one of the failures was a power steering malfunction, I have checked the fluid and it is black so needs changing. my question relates to the estimate they sent him which doesn’t mention how they would fix the power steering malfunction, so I gave them a call and they stated they would need to run diagnostics on it to determine where the fault lies, I was under the impression this car has no electronic components relating to the steering system other than a pressure sensor to increase idle at low speeds, can someone please confirm ..read more

Hello, Yesterday I updated my car's Sync3 OS from 3.4.19200 to 3.4.23188 via a USB stick. Once I uploaded the *.xml file to confirm the update, I was able to download the file needed to update my maps. The car currently has Maps Version F8. I see when unzipping the maps download to my USB stick that a lot of the files are dated the 19th of April 2024. The USB installation instructions states under Vehicle Update: "The first part includes the map installation and takes approximately 90-120 minutes. The second part completes the update and takes approximately 3 minutes" The r ..read more

New battery showing 12.2/3V

Hi all, last week I had a battery replacement installed (identical to previous) 60A - 600 EFB. Checking with a decent multi meter I expected to see around 12.6 or 12.7V, but it only shows 12.2.. or 12.3..   under idle load it go's to 15.3 and 12.5 at 2500 rev's. Must admit I was expecting a 14.8 ish charge at higher revs ?, the strange thing (to me) at higher revs around 3000 it drops back to 12.5. I have read about the "dreaded" drain but would have thought a brand new battery could fight that off, but 12.2/3V ??? Could it be the default 80% restricting SOC ? I've read a few people incre ..read more
