It wasn't caused by an intermittent air gap - quite the opposite. So, the mirrors started doing their own thing again about 2 days after my last post. Was thinking it could be something weird going on with a central locking but then the doors weren't opening/locking. Turns out it was the mirror control switch & I hadn't put contact cleaner on that. I disconnected it from the wiring loom to get the door card off &, while I was having a think about the whole issue, I thought I'd have a look inside it. While trying to fix a power fold issue, I removed the mirror from the door. Holding the mirror glass housing in my hand, I made power fold motor work. The motor sounded less strained since it wasn't under much load but still seemed to run for a second after the mirror & mounting stopped at their rotation limits (both directions). As far as the mirror rubbing off the window trim, I refitted the mirror & it now doesn't rub against the trim. The mirror must've been removed at some point & put back on badly. The problem got worse over the Easter weekend to the point that the mirrors were opening & folding several times in a minute & sometimes wouldn't finish their travel before going the other way. Worried that the motors would burn out, I got the door card off & disconnected the mirror connector harness & the mirror control switch. No evidence of moisture or corroded contacts but I used contact cleaner on everything & reconnected it all back up. Hello, I am a newbie to the forum. I found you while looking for a way to disable the exterior courtesy lights on my Fiesta on unlocking as I hate it lighting up like a Christmas tree every time I unlock. The internal lights were simple enough to deal with, disable the orange mood lighting in the setup menu and remove the bulbs from all but the light over the centre console. I found a YouTube video from an American chap who did this on his truck, but unfortunately this doesn't work on the Fiesta. Hello. My power fold mirrors fold in at random times but notice it happens more often in the morning. They never open back out on their own. I always have to open them back out using the mirror control pad. All mirror functions work as they're supposed to every time. Anyone else seen this or have any ideas what's going on? Found degrading to earlier version of forscan worked with my elm adapter which I've used in previous years for PAT programming etc. Seems the newer versions arent the best for older adapters..anyway its working now. Removing the fog lamp relay 10 from the engine fuse box, connecting forescan and programming if successful, will be evident as the BCM will report a DTC of fogs being open circuit.
