Polka Dots and Palazzo Pants

Spring is here and the fashion forecast is bright and sunny. Polka dots are still in fashion as are wide leg palazzo pants. If you had told me that these would be flattering on a 5’3″ woman, such as myself, I would have balked. However with the addition of a heel and a fitted top, it absolutely flatters, even elongates the body. This top and bottom by Benaar LA creates this type of magic, It is one of my absolute favorite outfits and I can’t wait to give it proper airtime this season. I will wear this to a brunch or luncheon, or out for dinner. In other words, the possibilities are endless. B ..read more

In The Red

Not one to ever shy away from color, I wear red every chance I get. Bright colors and jewel tones suit me better than pastels, which tend to wash me out. It is always helpful to know your fashion color palette, as it makes choosing clothing so much easier. This outfit came together with pieces that I’ve owned for a while. I started with these fabulous Moncer track pants, which I also have in black, here and here. I do that occasionally. If a pant or top fits me well and is available in other colors and on sale, I will buy it in both colors. The blazer is by Marella, and I picked it up a coup ..read more

I have discovered the most amazing fashion brand and I want you to now about it. Benaar LA is a fashion brand created by my new friend, Sherl Mikhail. Sherli is a dentist with fabulous taste and style. Benaar was born out of a true love for fashion. Sherli knows her way around designer clothes and accessories, but she is also aware that women want beautiful pieces at affordable prices. She created this line, which is named after her boys, Ben and Aaron, andnbegan sellig the clothes out of her Los Angeles home. The clothes were so popular, that she opened an online store, and now Benaar LA is ..read more

Have you ever heard of the brand Pumiey? If you haven’t, I am about to introduce you. This clothing company has been taking the internet by storm, and for good reason. Pumiey makes ctohing, primarilbody suits and form fitted maxi dresses, that are well….magical. I don’t know what they add to the fabric but these clothes hold you up and hold you in. They fit and flatter like nothing I have ever worn before. I am not wearing a bra with this dress, and yet, I don’t feel unsupported at all. Best of all, is its price of $34.99!! Here is the link to the dress. I chose to style this in three ways an ..read more

Stepping Out Of My Comfort Zone and Into Black Halo

“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.”  ~William Shakespeare Midsummer Night’s Dream  Ethereal and romantic all at once, this gown  conjures  images of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Wearing something so unstructured and flowy was a style departure for me, since I tend to wear more fitted, body-conscious clothing, especially given my 5’3” frame. Based on the plethora of compliments I received when I wore this to a friend’s wedding a couple of weeks ago, I’d say I am now a true fan of Black Halo.  Henna Gown in Lur ..read more

Whenever I go home to Winnipeg, I always find fashion treasures. It always surprises me, because when I was growing up in Winnipeg, there were not a lot of shopping options; there were mostly department stores and chain stores in the mall, but that was about it. I have never been a fan of seeing myself coming and going, (a phrase oft used to describe shopping where everyone else does, hence seeing people in the same clothes), so I had to be creative and put my outfits together by adding a little of this or that to make them different. However, all that changed a couple of years ago when I wal ..read more

Self Portrait: Necessity Is The Mother Of Invention

It was Friday at 6:30 PM and we were due at the restaurant at 7:30. The lighting in my backyard was good, and I wanted to photograph my dinner outfit…the only problem was that no one was home. Jeff was running late and wouldn’t be able to take any photos for me. So I did what any fashion influencer or “content creator,” as I now call myself, would do: I set up my tripod and put my phone’s camera on timer. The results are certainly not professional, as no amount of editing could remedy that. However, I believe that the points I wish to share about how and why I styled this dress in this partic ..read more

I’m A Barbie Girl

Here’s a fun fact: Barbie and I share a birthday. We were both born on October 24, 1959. That fact coupled with all of the hype surrounding the Barbie movie, I just had to take advantage of our twinning. I filmed a little video that I posted on Instagram and TikTok, which you can view here. Being a pink girl, it was difficult to create the perfect Barbie outfit. This pink knit dress by The Kooples, is the short version of the long black one I purchase in London. The fit is amazing and so is this color. The Kooples dress, Louis Vuitton slides via The Real Real, similar for less here and here ..read more
