I already have a decent keyboard, but I want one to assist with learning. Are there any full-size key keyboards which light up in response to midi input? As in, lighting up from an external source as opposed to by playing it. submitted by /u/Kelburno [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Gigging with Keyscape - Audio interface question

Hi. I have a short tour abroad next month and instead of lugging my Nord on the plane I've agreed to play an old Yamaha stage piano provided. I have an M2 Macbook Air with Keyscape and thought it would be a good idea to try to use this as the sounds will be better than on the old Yamaha. I've never used soft synths for live performance before. I have an old school (1st or 2nd gen I think) Focusrite 2i2 interface. If I buy the necessary USB adaptor (to fit the Mac) will this provide a good sound? Or is it worth splashing out for something more expensive like an Apollo, for example? Does the qu ..read more

Looking for a good budget 61 key keyboard for gigging.

I'd like it to be portable and light. I don't want any speakers on it for that reason. semi-weighted would be ideal but just regular might be ok also. I'd really like a good selection of patches, It doesn't need to be a huge selection, but something decent to sort of cover all the bases, so that whatever song I need to do, I'll have something I can use. An easy to navigate patch system would also be key. I want to use it primarily for gigging, and I'd like to be able to come up with comparable patches to whatever I'd need to cover. It doesn't need to be perfect, but close enough to fit it wel ..read more

I remember a couple of months ago someone in my Twitter feed shared a funny short video of a keyboarder playing the bridge in "Something Got Me Started" (Simply Red) and looking like he's falling asleep. I've been looking for this video ever since, couldn't find it anymore - I'd appreciate any leads :D submitted by /u/BambooShadoww [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Overall I just wanna break out from playing basic chords from whatever key I’m in. I wanna know all the ways to enhance making my chords funky. Best App for Gigging

Hi everyone, Would love to know what you like to use for gigging with an iPad. I use a different patch for each song (covers band). I've got AUM but I don't see a way to switch patches easily. I've read you can use a different app to fire midi messages at it to change to a specific session but there doesn't appear to be a program change functionality (i.e. just next/previous). I have been using MKSensation which has: A lot of built in sounds Up to 8 layer/split sounds Lots of effects, plus standard synth stuff like LFO, Filter Can host AU3 so if it doesn't have your sound, you can literally ..read more

What sustain pedal for digital piano (Kawai ES-120) should I buy?

I'm currently in the process of purchasing a Kawai ES120 Digital Piano and seeking advice on the best sustain pedal to complement it. Among the options I've found online are the On-Stage KSP100, Nektar NP-2, and Roland DP-10. However, I'm uncertain about two things: 1- Whether I should stick with the sustain pedal that comes with the Kawai ES120 Digital Piano (= Kawai f-10h Damper Pedal) 2- If not, What are the current best options for sustain pedals in the market to accompany the Kawai ES120 Digital Piano. My primary concern is ensuring that the pedal's feel is authentic and closely resemble ..read more

Hoping this is the right board. I don’t have a PC, and won’t any time soon. What I do have is a plethora of other instruments and I’m consistently writing for an eventual release. My question is very simple, do you guys know of a keyboard I can get sounds like dark score from keyscapes? I’m certain it’s really easy to do, but I want a good suggestion before I buy. The cheaper the better, but I want as close to a 1-1 sound as I can possibly get. submitted by /u/Vanishing_12924 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
