Not sure if this is different to what came with the DGX-300 model, but see what you think. Usually these things are shared as disc images, but this archive has been made available as folders and files. https://archive.org/details/yamaha-x543 ... merica.MID https://archive.org/download/yamaha-x54 ... -305%20CD/ Browse and download disc contents with this link The CD that came with Yamaha Keyboard DGX-305. Hey there, I was recently given a DGX-300 by a family member, and it had everything except the floppy disks that came with it. Any chance anyone has a set or knows where I can get a set, or even just the files that were on them? I already checked with Yamaha.com and they don't have any. I know this is a long shot, especially since we are talking about floppy disks. I would just love to have those files and learn more. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions, advice, etc LinuxAndCoffee Statistics: Posted by LinuxAndCoffee — Fri Feb 02, 2024 5:22 pm ..read more

Later on, the Yamaha store here (who also ran the music school) got the newer versions, the PSS790 included. The 790 looks like it would've been a fun keyboard at the time. It's a pity the PSR4600 predated it by a year or so, otherwise it might have had a vector control on it as well. the 480 and 790 look like they both have visual similarities to the 4600. I should drag my 4600 out of the cupboard one day, and put it through some VST effects Statistics: Posted by Rara — Mon Jan 15, 2024 1:13 am ..read more

I started learning to play on a PSS-480 that I bought back in 89. I also attended the Yamaha music school at the time. The 480 was an amazing instrument back then, very much like the later versions, you even had some access to the FM engine to tweak the sounds. A year later I bought a full size key PSR, which sonically was really no better than the 480. I connected them together via MIDI and also used them both with my Atari STE. Later on, the Yamaha store here (who also ran the music school) got the newer versions, the PSS790 included. I went and tried it. The owner actually invited me to dem ..read more

Just looking around, there are a fair few videos of the 790 / 795 on Youtube. I found this video last year with a link to a soundfont file of the entire keyboard, e.g. every preset sampled. * The video has a corrupted picture in one part due to YouTube messing up the original upload years later. I tried the soundfont and it works fine. Download SoundFont: http://jolyk.narod.ru/pss-51/ Also includes MIDI files, manual and more. iframe Statistics: Posted by Ego_Shredder — Sun Jan 14, 2024 1:07 am ..read more

The drives used in these come from Japanese MSX computers. Any PC floppy drive should work as long as the appropriate adapter is used to convert from the MSX connection to the standard 34 pin used on IBM compatible PC drives, and by matching up the appropriate connections. pin connections are in floppy drive service manuals If it is the same drive as what the SY85 uses or the MDF2 for example. Then a Panasonic ju256 will work, or Sony mpf920. also make sure the floppy drive has the ability to read 2DD disk as some of the last of the floppy drives made before they ceased production didn't suppo ..read more

Does anyone have any info on compatible floppy disk drives for the psr620 other than they are the same drive as the SY85 and that some has replaced a broken floppy drive in a SY85 With a Sony mpf520m floppy drive. I was hoping that there would be a few drives that are compatible and that work properly. Any help would be appreciated Statistics: Posted by StevePSR620 — Sat Jan 13, 2024 10:09 pm ..read more

Yamaha psr620 broken floppy drive. The solution is to convert your 24 pin ribbon cable to 34 pin that most modern fdd drives use . You can find a 24 to 34 pin Drive Adapter on ebay that works with the psr 620 for £18.50 Ebay item no is 176068111793. I am having the same problem. My floppy has died. Replaced drive belt still would not read disks. Been told the floppy is the same as the SY85 . I watched a video and they replaced the floppy with an old pc floppy a couple didn't work but a Sony mpf520m did and it was fine. The problem is that they hard to get hold of and they are pricey. Yamaha PSR/PSS/DGX • PSR-630 disk locks if invalid .MID file encountered

I don't know if this is normal, but I have noticed that I can put straight MIDI (.MID) files onto a disk (using my linux PC) and then read and play them on the PSR-630. However, some of the MIDI files I got are from newer model PSR which have multiple variations (not supported on the 630) and these MIDI files, even just one of them on a disk ... cause the entire disk to become unreadable. As soon as I remove the offending .MID file, the disk returns to normal and all other .MID files can be read/played as normal. Is there a good utility to scan/detect incompatible MIDI files? I am still lea ..read more
