Hello! My sir hammy is getting older(3 years old). He's become more of a lazy hammy, he likes to burrow for long periods of time and come out to eat/drink then go back to bed. He has tons of enrichment but he is moving slower. Every time i dont hear him for long periods of time i get worried and wake him up and i think its pissing him off? but i get scared that he has passed in his burrow. I notice my hamster often pees on her wheel and will sometimes poop in her sand bath. But I’ve had the same bedding for about two weeks and was wondering if I have to replace it all or just half? I never see her really pee in her bedding or notice it. I know that all the bedding with her scent if it’s removed will cause her to stress. But when should I replace half of it? We dont know what caused it specifically, but we think it was a heart issue. He was a happy hamster but i noticed he was becoming restless and seemed anxious. I also noticed that his wheel had diarrhea on his wheel which was probably from him being given too many greens (a problem i had solved previously). So my Russian Dwarf Hamster Josie, has been drinking a LOT of water lately, not during the day but during the night. We made a switch to another food that has a lot of nutrients (Bunny Nature variety mix) and she enjoys her food. But I’m just concerned that she’s drinking too much water during the night.
