Hey readers, sorry for the delay in posting, but I’ve been at the annual RSA Conference for cybersecurity since Sunday managing client meetings, working the show floor, prospecting new business and collecting three awards for my PR firm and two for a dear colleague who passed away in November.
You never know who you will run into here. One of my favorite journalists at the show told me about an interview he did with Madison Horn, a cybersecurity leader and a candidate for Congress in Oklahoma’s 5th district which includes a nice chunk of Oklahoma City. She was at the C ..read more

Got this press release today from the Derek Tran for Congress campaign; it’s shameful. It might have well been written by a Republican and shows ignorance I thought had long been resolved.

Whther its the local county party or the state party, what the hell happened to Republicans and actual common sense?
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is the keynote speaker for the California GOP at the State Party’s Convention in May in Burlingame. Sure hope SPCA or PETA shows up to picket.
Noem wrote in her not yet released memoir that she took a 14 month old puppy to a gravel pit and shot the dog in cold blood. Noem claimed the dog, named Cricket, was “untrainable” and “dangerous.”
“It was not a pleasant job,” she wrote. “But it had to be done.”
Noem’s nutjob right wingers are ..read more

Here’s the notice from Democrats of Greater Irvine. So far, only council members Larry Agran and Tammy Kim have announced their candidacy for Irvine Mayor. At some point, a Republican will announce (and my money is on Anthony Kuo who lost a bid for State Senate in March). A Kuo canddiacy gives Republicans someone to vote for and cuts Council member Tammy Kim’s AAPI support in half.
Here’s the details:

IRVINE, CA — Amid a dismal fundraising quarter, Republican Scott Baugh has turned to the gun lobby, accepting thousands in campaign donations as he struggles to gain financial traction following the loss of Californian Kevin McCarthy as Speaker of the House. During the first quarter of 2024, Baugh solicited funds from both the NRA Victory Fund and the National Shooting Sports Foundation PAC– two organizations known for the relentless opposition to gun control measures and significant role in perpetuating the gun violence crisis. This comes in stark contrast to his Democratic opponent, State S ..read more

As the battle over banning books in Huntington Beach’s Publi Library continues to make news, a reminder that April 23 is World Book Day.
I’m a little curious: what law would be broken if someone where to buy some of those banned books and dropping by the HB Library and leaving them on the shelves? Of hosting a free library of banned books outside the library every day?
Here’s an announcement from the DLCC:
WASHINGTON — Today is World Book Day, a day reserved to celebrate reading and books. However, the day takes on a darker tone in the U.S. this year given books are under unprecedented ..read more

Editor’s Note: There are 50,000 more registered Democrats in Orange County today than Republicans and we lost one of those tireless people that made this a fact over the past weekend. Marti Schrank, known as “Marti from the Party,” passed away. It’s been a tough year; Ray Cordova, Misha Houser, and now Marti. How fortunate are we as OC Democrats to have such tireless fighters? May they rest in peace.
Here’s a statement from the DPOC on the news.
It is with deep sadness that we received the news over the weekend that Marti Schrank, our grand dame of O ..read more
