The T-Mo Report

Providing support to employees can be a cumbersome venture for a company. It is particularly complex for a company like T-Mobile. There are phone features, plan offerings, and promotional deals that change near daily. Properly securing systems that handle sensitive customer data (something T-Mobile still needs a lesson or two about) is also important. There is even financing math to get right. It is a lot to remember and get right across retail and care channels, and now T-Mobile has a plan to make this a more accessible experience for employees. Enter frontline “Superpowers”, new digital too ..read more

Here’s T-Mobile’s New Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Access Point

Wi-Fi coverage can be a pain for larger or weirdly-shaped homes, especially if your main router is located at one end of the house. For T-Mobile, their 5G Home Internet gateways offer usable Wi-Fi 6 signal, but you’re often forced to keep the unit close by a window. We previously reported on an FCC listing we found for a new mesh access point made by Arcadyan, the company that also makes T-Mobile’s latest G4AR gateway. That access point was then announced to be a part of the new Home Internet Plus plan T-Mobile is launching. Thanks to a few images sent to us here at The Mobile Report, we now ..read more

T-Mobile Will Finally Have Decent Protection Against Fraudulent SIM Changes
The T-Mo Report

SIM swap scams are all the rage among criminals these days. Just over a week ago, we reported how employees across the country were receiving an influx of texts offering cash for illegal SIM swaps. Criminals manage to move a victim’s number to a SIM they control, and from there are able to access two-factor authentication for things like bank accounts and crypto. Other carriers are also impacted by the crime as well. For a customer to legitimately move their number to a different SIM (physical or eSIM), T-Mobile’s current system requires contacting a support representative and requesting the S ..read more

Uh-Oh: T-Mobile Will Now Enforce Home Internet Address Eligibility
The T-Mo Report

Despite the fact that T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet is using, well, a “mobile” network, you’re only supposed to use it at the address it was activated on. Still, there was technically nothing stopping you from taking your gateway with you to another location and still enjoying the service. After all, your phone can grab a 5G signal anywhere in the country, and so can your gateway. It seems T-Mobile doesn’t want people doing that, though, at least not without paying significantly more. As such, in addition to the company just announcing a new “Away” plan, they now plan to actually track where you ..read more

T-Mobile has announced a new “Home Internet Plus” as part of their latest newsroom post. The service is quite similar to their standard Home Internet plan but with a few added perks. Home Internet Plus is advertised as the ideal service for customers with heavy internet usage and lots of devices, as well as for homes that are larger and have difficulties getting Wi-Fi to every corner of the home. We’ve obtained a few images of some internal documents detailing how Home Internet Plus works, shown below. There are two key benefits of the Plus plan over the standard Home Internet: A Wi-Fi mesh ..read more

The latter, Away, is designed for customers who are always on-the go, and need Wi-Fi at many different locations around the country. The new Away plan gives customers access to T-Mobile’s nationwide 5G network anywhere they go via the company’s G4AR gateway. The service works pretty similar to the company’s standard Home Internet, except this new plan will not enforce a single address. Buy A Galaxy S24 From Verizon And Get A Free 65″ TV
The T-Mo Report

Deals from smartphone manufacturers can occasionally be generous, but the most generous ones usually come from carriers. After all, the phones they sell are tied to lines, so they need to make up for it more. Carriers like AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, as well as MVNOs, really like offering cheap or even free hardware to get you to choose one or the other (competition also plays a big role here). We’ve seen everything from free phones to extra hardware, especially during specific times of the year, but perhaps this particular new deal from Verizon might be a bit too good, especially if you ..read more

T-Mobile Employees Across The Country Receive Cash Offers To Illegally Swap SIMs
The T-Mo Report

We’ve reported previously on the issue of “SIM Swapping”, where a bad actor illegally and fraudulently obtains access to someone’s phone line by swapping the SIM card on the line to one they possess. This allows the criminal to use the line to obtain two-factor authentication codes sent to the victim for the purposes of accessing online accounts. Often, this results in the victim losing money, either from their bank accounts or crypto wallets. Separately, T-Mobile has had issues with data breaches in the past, including one back in September affecting employees of a third-party retailer named ..read more

The T-Mo Report

T-Mobile Home Internet officially launched back in April of 2021. Since then, there have been four different gateway models given to customers, the latest of which, the “Gen 4“, being manufactured by both Sercomm and Arcadyan. Originally, the Nokia model was planned to have additional mesh Wi-Fi nodes, images and details of which we featured all the way back in January of 2021. Due to unknown reasons however, T-Mobile decided never to release them or make them available for customers. Now though, according to a recent filing at the FCC, it appears the company may be trying again. A new mesh n ..read more

AI-Powered Carrier MobileX Now Offers Phones And Financing
The T-Mo Report

Prepaid carriers, despite usually offering budget-friendly rate plans, have a disadvantage. Unlike the major postpaid carriers in the United States, namely AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, most cannot offer direct device financing. Activating prepaid service does not come with a credit check, and thus your prepaid carrier cannot endorse you for a financing plan on the latest phones. Prepaid carriers know this can hurt their appeal, and they are finding creative ways to get a new device in your hands just like postpaid carriers. Not everyone, especially a budget-conscious customer looking at th ..read more
