RALEIGH, N.C. – Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Joel Nystrom to a two-year, entry-level contract. Nystrom will receive $832,500 at the NHL level and $80,000 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level for both seasons, and the deal will include a signing bonus of $185,000.

RALEIGH, N.C. – The National Hockey League today announced that Carolina Hurricanes captain Jordan Staal has been selected as one of the three finalists for the 2023-24 Frank J. Selke Trophy. The Frank J. Selke Trophy is presented annually by the NHL to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game. Voting for the award is conducted by members of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (PHWA). The other finalists for this season’s Selke Trophy are Toronto’s Auston Matthews and Florida’s Aleksander Barkov.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed a three-year affiliation agreement with the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Chicago previously served as Carolina’s AHL affiliate from 2020-23, winning the Calder Cup in 2022. As part of the agreement, the Hurricanes will oversee the Wolves’ hockey operations decisions.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed goaltender Ruslan Khazheyev to a three-year, entry-level contract. Khazheyev will receive $775,000 at the NHL level from 2024-25 to 2026-27, and he will receive $82,500 at the American Hockey League (AHL) level for all three seasons. The deal will also include signing bonuses worth $210,000.
