We love a bit of trivia here at MoreBikes. No matter whether we’re at a pub quiz with a beer in one hand and a pencil in the other, or being questioned by our mates when we’re stood around at a bike night, there’s something about knowing the answer to an unexpected question that gives us a nice fuzzy feeling inside. And if we don’t know, then there’s a good chance we might learn something. That’s cool, too.  That’s why we’ve decided to introduce a regular quiz section sponsored by our good pals at Fowlers (who’ll be supplying the prizes). We’ll be asking you questions about all manner of ..read more

Suzuki has revealed 2024 colours for its GSX-S950. The 95PS GSX-S model, which can be restricted for A2 licence compliance, will come in a silver and dark red this year, along with an updated trademark metallic triton blue and a stealth all-black version.  The GSX-S950 is based on the GSX-S1000 platform and shares the same frame and GSX-R-derived swingarm. It also uses the same 999cc, superbike-derived engine, but while peak power output is reduced to 95PS from 152PS, the 950 still makes use of the donor engine’s creamy midrange to produce 92 Nm of peak ..read more

For many motorcyclists, one of their bucket-list trips is an American road trip, taking in as many of the sights of the 50 States as possible. Words: Dave Manning, Ross Mowbray & Matt Hull Photography: Gary Chapman An all-American road trip would be entirely appropriate for a pair of Harley-Davidsons, particularly in the year of the motor company’s 120th anniversary. And so that is exactly what we planned, taking perhaps the most diverse twosome from the company’s range (or, at least, those in the range that are sold in the UK), and heading out to see some of those things that make Americ ..read more

SUZUKI: Patent filed for small twin valve control
MoreBikes

Suzuki has applied for a patent for their invention of a straightforward variable valve control, similar to systems used by Yamaha and Piaggio. Variable valve controls have the potential to enhance combustion engines for several years to come. However, motorcyclists have not had access to this technology frequently, especially when it comes to variable control times or valve lifts. Typically, such features are limited to the highest-end models in order to continuously boost power and performance. Currently, only Yamaha has implemented these advantages in their 125cc single-cylinder engines. Pe ..read more

Frank Melling’s new book about the racing great Jim Redman is our book of the week. That Jim Redman is one of the true greats of motorcycle racing is indisputable. With six World Championship titles and six Isle of Man TT wins to his credit, as well as being both captain and manager of the Honda race team, Redman’s record is incredible. Born in London in 1931, he emigrated to Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe, in 1952 and it was here that his racing career began. His greatest successes came during the early to mid-1960s when he dominated the 250cc and 350cc World Championships and scored his TT victorie ..read more
