The Traffic Report: The Corridor goes to the beach

We’ve been putting some mileage on the cars lately. Between trips to Eugene, Corvallis and out to Beaverton, The I-5 Corridor 2.0 has been doing its part in burning precious fossil fuel to bring you, in our biased opinion, some of the best sports coverage in the Northwest. Not all Substack writers are heroes. And really, we don’t need more applause. But dang it, at least one of us has earned a little R&R. So in this week’s Traffic Report, Tyson and Shane preview Shane’s trip to the Oregon Coast, recap our weekend spent at our second home (Gill Coliseum) and work our way through a True Dete ..read more

The Traffic Report: Building our NCAA dynasties
The I-5 Corridor

It’s a monster weekend for basketball in Corvallis with two top-25 games on the women’s side and one pivotal showdown between the Ducks and Beavers with the men. The I-5 Corridor will be at Gill Coliseum for coverage on Friday and Saturday, but first Tyson and Shane had to sit down and discuss the important things, like which program we’re going to lead into the future on EA Sports College Football 2025. (By the way, this commercial was directed by UO grad Jack Jensen. Boy, that would make for an interesting story next week…) For more, listen to this podcast in the player above or find us ..read more

The Traffic Report: Expanding to the 405

Happy signing day, for those who celebrate. Yes, the Ducks got another 5-star (Idaho WR Gatlin Bair, whose arrival to Eugene will be delayed by two years with a church mission) and yes, it’s still an important time for teams across the country as they put their final touches on their rosters before spring practice. But ever since the early signing period in December came into play late last decade, February’s OG event kind of has the feeling of going to Disneyland the week Disney World opened up in 1971. So yes, on this week’s Traffic Report, we do touch on national signing day. But we also di ..read more

The Traffic Report: After Oregon State's big week is it time to start worrying about the Ducks?
The I-5 Corridor
by Tyson Alger and Shane Hoffmann

Don’t expect Dana Altman to send Wayne Tinkle a Christmas card any time soon. After Oregon State’s upset of Arizona Thursday night, the Oregon State coach sent the Wildcats to Eugene as a team hellbent on making up for a rare loss. And boy did the Wildcats take it out on the Ducks. Is it time to start worrying about an Oregon men’s team that’s now lost three of its last four games? Tyson and Shane discuss — along with some football and True Detective — on this week’s episode of The Traffic Report. The Traffic Report: The ice thaws and the Ducks cool off
The I-5 Corridor

The good news: we’ve had sightings of that blue stuff up in the sky the last few days. The bad news: the temperature of the Oregon men’s basketball team has seemingly swung in the opposite direction. Tyson and Shane check in after UO’s 0-2 road trip through the mountain schools, preview this weekend’s series against the Arizona schools, discuss Tyson’s trip to a Rip City Remix game and dive into the latest episode of True Detective. Then as a bonus: we head down to Eugene for basketball availability and welcome on Will Patterson. Patterson, UO MBB’s director of communications, is an Arkansas n ..read more

Hope everyone is settling in for this storm.  Then again, with no plans to hit I-5 for an interview with a Heisman hopeful this week, you can likely expect clear skies and moderate tempts.  Now that was a trip. Some say he’s still stuck out there on the Corridor.  Anyway, a little different podcast this week. Shane and I recorded a Traffic Report on Wednesday, right before the collective college football and NFL news cycles lost their minds. I had a few stories to write and quickly found that Shane and my efforts were a bit dated.  It also didn’t help that I spent a fair am ..read more
