Cohasset—At 10:26 a.m., on Friday, November 3, 2023, an on-duty Cohasset Police officer witnessed a three-car chain reaction crash in front of 135 King Street (Route 3A) involving a 1995 Mack dump truck, a 2019 Toyota 4Runner, and a 2021 Land Rover.
The 4Runner and Land Rover were stopped in the northbound lane, waiting for a vehicle to turn into a driveway, when the Mack truck, also headed northbound, rear-ended the 4Runner at a high rate of speed, crushing the cargo area of the SUV. COHASSET — Cohasset Police detectives allege in a complaint filed with the Quincy District Court that two females stole $3,999.65 in retail merchandise from a Cohasset pharmacy on October 17, 2023, around 12:30 pm.
Cohasset detectives identified and charged the following suspects with one count each of Organized Retail Theft, a felony, in violation of Massachusetts General Laws:

COHASSET — On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at about 3:40 p.m., Cohasset Police and Fire responded to the intersection of Beechwood Street and Hillside Drive for a report of a rollover crash with injuries. First arriving officers reported that the driver, a 70-year-old man from Quincy, self-extricated and was outside of his 2009 Toyota sedan with extensive facial injuries.

COHASSET — This week, the Cohasset Police and Fire Departments responded to three overdoses in the last two days. Throughout the greater Boston area, law enforcement agencies are seeing a rise in fake prescription pills being sold, containing lethal doses of fentanyl, meth and xylazine.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) also issued a Public Safety Alert and began their “One Pill Can Kill” public awareness campaign because of an increase they have seen. COHASSET — At about 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2023, a Cohasset police officer responded to South Main Street and River Road for a report of low-hanging wires. While the officer was outside of his cruiser, a 2018 Ford Police Interceptor, he heard a loud snap and saw that a giant tree was falling towards him and his cruiser. The officer quickly ran down South Main Street, and the tree crushed the roof of his police car and part of the passenger cabin. The officer was uninjured, and the cruiser was wrecked beyond repair.

COHASSET — On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at about 7:20 p.m., Cohasset Police Officer Thomas Brown conducted a vehicle stop on Route 3A, following reports to 9-1-1 that a 2010 Ford Escape was being operated erratically near 3A and Sohier Street. Officer Brown identified the operator as Kayla Jae O’Leary, 21 years old, from Concord, NH. Checks showed the 2010 Ford Escape was listed as a stolen vehicle by the New York City Police Department. The vehicle was stolen out of the Bronx earlier in the day.

COHASSET — On Tuesday July 18, 2023, at about 6:00AM, the Cohasset Police Department was dispatched to Black Rock Beach for a vessel in distress. The South Shore Regional Emergency Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call for a boat taking on water with multiple people in the water. The reporting party stated that the boat was 300-400 yards offshore.

COHASSET — Cohasset Community Fireworks will take place on July 2, 2023. Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m. at Sandy Beach. Because of the anticipated crowds and for everyone’s safety, there will be a number of road closures and areas where parking will NOT be allowed.
