On Sunday, November 6th, members of the Chelsea Police Drug Control Unit while continuing their surveillance efforts in the Congress, Shawmut, and Maverick Streets area for reported drug activity, arrested Ramon Valdez, age 37, of Chelsea, on a variety of drug and firearm charges. Based on an ongoing investigation, the Drug Unit had previously sought an arrest and search warrant for Valdez; a clerk magistrate issued that warrant on Thursday, November 3rd. Friday -Chelsea Police Detectives arrested Erica Muniz Rivera, age 31, of Chelsea, this morning after conducting surveillance in the areas of Congress, Shawmut, and Shurtleff Streets. The neighborhood had been experiencing an increase in drug-related activity. After conducting a vehicle stop, the investigators seized from Ms. Muniz (91) grams of what is believed to be Fentanyl  and nearly (30) grams of “Crack Cocaine.” Ms. Muniz was to be arraigned in Chelsea District Court to face multiple trafficking in drug charges.
